Things will get even uglier for Port Adelaide if they can’t finally end their winless streak at home to a West Coast Eagles side still decimated by injury and COVID. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:35pm (AEST).

0-5 to start the season for the first time in their AFL history, the Power are officially in the last-chance saloon – if it’s not too late already.

With coach Ken Hinkley under the pump, the Power nearly pulled off an extraordinary victory, coming from 49 points down at half time to fall just three points short of Carlton in a heartbreaking defeat to continue their miserable time of it in 2022.

That comeback hasn’t stopped Hinkley from making a statement at selection, with gun winger Karl Amon omitted. Reigning Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines returns from his scary heart ailment, while youngster Kane Farrell plays his first game for 2022, having suffered a knee injury last season.

The Eagles have alternated between respectable and dismal throughout this season, following up an amazing win over Collingwood with an ugly loss to Sydney at home last week.

With key midfielders underdone having been rushed back into the team, the Eagles were more than 50 points down before they’d so much as scored, and things hardly got better from there.

In a sign of the tough time they’ve had this year, ruckman Luke Strnadica will become the 41st Eagle picked in just six rounds, and eleventh debutant, when he runs onto the Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
