The Richmond Tigers and Melbourne Demons will go head to head in their Anzac Day eve clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and both teams will be desperate for a victory. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:35pm (AEDT).

The Tigers have been decimated by injury early in the season, but have still managed to maintain a three and two record.

They will get Jack Riewoldt back for this clash, as he returns from a wrist injury, in what will be a huge boost for the Richmond forward line.

Richmond are yet to crack 100 points for the season, but have been consistent enough to pick up their three victories. However, against the better teams, without the injured Alex Rance to organise the defence, they need to be blasting away in attack.

Tom J Lynch and Jack Riewoldt, along with gun midfielder Dusty Martin, will now get to work on their combination for a prolonged period, and if it clicks, they could turn themselves into the competition’s best attacking side.

While they aren’t likely to hit that sort of form this evening, the return of Riewoldt couldn’t come at a worst time for the Demons, who have a susceptible defensive line of Marty Hore, Sam Frost and Jordan Lewis.

It’s been inconsistent on that half of the ground, but the Demons have conceded heavy point totals in a couple of games this season, which has left them with just one win from five games.

Their loss last week to St Kilda was a particular worry for the club, and if they dish up a similar performance this evening, things could get very ugly.

Max Gawn and Angus Brayshaw will need to be among their best if they are to pick up the win, with it being imperative to stop the ball getting forward to Richmond’s forward line as often as possible.

Prediction
The Tigers are favourites, and with Riewoldt back, rightfully so, but it wouldn’t’ knock me over to see an upset in this one, given the somewhat inconsistent nature of the Dees.

Tigers by 14.
