The St Kilda Saints and Carlton Blues do battle at Marvel Stadium as both teams fight to keep their season alive on Friday night. Follow along with all the action with live scores on The Roar from 7:50pm (AEST).

While the desperate ‘mathematics argument’ is the only thing keeping Carlton fans going, St Kilda still have a real pulse. Sitting just two points outside of a finals spot, the Saints need a healthy win over the Blues to not only snatch the much-needed points but also improve a dismal percentage – the worst of the four teams stuck on the periphery of the top-eight.

St Kilda, who have been ravaged by injury all year, were just getting rolling as they strung together a slew of impressive wins before going down in their last two games by narrow margins. Importantly, Rowan Marshall is expected to return after he sat out for visiting a COVID-19 exposure site.

Meanwhile, the Blues squad is pretty banged up from last week’s demolition at the hands of last-placed North Melbourne. They’ll be without veteran Eddie Betts who is nursing an ankle injury he sustained in typical Eddie-fashion, attempting a high-flying hanger. Zac Williams will also be absent for Carlton, while Harry McKay – currently leading the Coleman Medal race – is an outside chance to suit up. The Blue Baggers could certainly use the injection of attacking prowess.

Originally scheduled for later in the round, this Friday night clash should serve up an intriguing start to the footy week.
