Welcome to Cairns, as Round 7 of the AFL Premiership season continues with a blockbuster between a red-hot St Kilda and the back in form Port Adelaide. Join The Roar for live scores, coverage and analysis from 7:25pm (AEST).

The Saints lost here in 2021 by a single kick to the Adelaide Crows, but they will look to keep their five-game winning streak alive here tonight in North Queensland.

Last week’s encounter with the Giants was a difficult grind until the last quarter but the Saints came away with the win by 17 points. The captain, Jack Steele, had another game to remember with 29 disposals, 16 contested possessions, eight tackles and seven inside-50s.

He is having a solid purple patch of form that seems to be never-ending, and will be the key to victory tonight.

Max King will be looking to atone for last week’s performance in front of goal, only managing an inaccurate 1.7 for the match. The loss of Rowan Marshall to injury will also hurt the Saints, but veteran Paddy Ryder will stand tall in the ruck tonight on return from suspension.

Port Adelaide pulled off their first win for the season against a troubled West Coast last week at home at the Adelaide Oval. This was the Power’s first win of the season and could not have come at a better time for the Alberton faithful.

The Power had four players with 30 or more disposals for the game – Travis Boak, Dan Houston, Ollie Wines and Connor Rozee. Jeremy Finlayson and Todd Marshall lead the fourth-quarter onslaught to kick five goals each and sink the Eagles by 84 points.

Port on paper are still one of the best sides around and I think they can still get something out of this season.

Prediction

I think that the Saints, led by Jack Steele, will win their sixth game in a row by 14 points.
