The Sydney Swans aim to avenge last year’s shock defeat, as the take on a struggling Gold Coast Suns outfit at the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 4:35pm (AEST).

After a terrible start to the season, the Swans have clicked into gear, winning four out of their last six games, to sit fourteenth.

Their season resurgence has been based off a strong midfield showing in recent weeks, with players like George Hewett and Luke Parker stepping up to the plate.

Contrastingly, the Gold Coast Suns started the season strongly, winning three of their first four games, but have not won a game since and sit second last on the table.

Stewart Dew will be hoping his side can recapture some of the magic that saw the Suns come from 29 points down at the first term to defeat Sydney in one of the upsets of the season last year.

Their task will be made slightly easier by the loss of Lance Franklin, who pulled his hamstring in Sydney’s win over the Hawks last week.

If the Suns are to win, they will need everyone to put in the committed team effort they achieved in the first month of the season. They will players like Lachie Weller to hold the fort down back and deliver some much needed run off half-back.

Prediction
The Suns defence will scrap to shut the Swans down, but recent history suggests they will be unsuccessful. The Sydney midfield should be too strong and should deliver a comfortable win.
