Show Preview

The two biggest losers out of Round 14, St Kilda and Sydney, square off in a crucial clash at the SCG, with the loser likely to start next week outside the top eight. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:25pm (AEST).

The Swans have been hit by health and safety protocols this week, as they lose defensive pair Harry Cunningham and Justin McInerney for this encounter. However, they will be bolstered by the return of first choice ruckman, Tom Hickey, as he has recovered from a knee injury sustained in the early rounds of the season.

The Swans struggled to match the intensity of Port Adelaide last weekend. Isaac Heeney was impressive with four goals to his name and Callum Mills featured as the leading possession getter with 27 disposals. These two provide versatility and class through the middle of the ground and hold the ability to snap goals from stoppages. They will be vital to the Swans overcoming the Saints quality midfield.

Jack Steele will be a welcome inclusion for Brett Ratten’s side as they look to solidify their position in the top 8. However, they will need to find an altered balance once again as Bradley Hill will be missing due to personal reasons this week, after having a solid patch of form recently. Paddy Ryder will also be managed for this match and Rowan Marshall will be a standalone ruck for the first time in a while.

The key match up in this game will be who ends up playing on Max King. Dane Rampe is the obvious choice but the McCartin brothers have been up for the challenge all season.

Prediction

After a disappointing loss last week, I think the Swans will win this one by 23 points.
