It’s a rematch of one of the classic recent deciders as the West Coast Eagles tackle the Collingwood Magpies in an elimination final at Optus Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 8:10pm (AEST).
After a shocking start to the season, the Eagles recovered with an impressive eight-game winning streak to get back on track. While they re-established themselves as a contender, the poor start meant they again narrowly miss out on a top-four spot, which proved costly last season. They’ll hope to take full advantage of the home venue and put the Pies to the sword.
Collingwood, on the other hand, have limped into finals this year, having not won more than two matches in a row for the home-and-away season. They qualified in eighth place and with by far the weakest scoring record of any of this season’s finalists. Despite being considered massive outsiders, they’re quietly confident they can cause the upset tonight.
West Coast triumphed by 66 points in a demolition when these sides met earlier in the year. The Eagles have won five of their last six encounters with the Magpies, which includes their two finals wins in 2018.
