A massive Saturday night clash is set to excite, as West Coast Eagles host the Geelong Cats at Optus Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 2:35pm (AEST).
It is impossible to deny West Coast are red-hot favourites heading into this clash, given the nature of their win last weekend over Collingwood. Adam Simpson’s men forced their way back into the premiership contention with that victory, which saw forward Josh Kennedy kick seven majors.
The Eagles sit inside the top eight, with an extended run of games at home meaning they’re reasonable chances for a top-four or top-two placing come the conclusion of the regular season.
A day later, Geelong also won at this ground – albeit over a terrible Fremantle outfit in torrential rain. The fourth-placed Cats were far from perfect and find themselves 0-2 in their West Australian hub so far, after an earlier loss to Collingwood. The losses mean Geelong’s record at this ground remains at one win, with the Eagles not losing at their home venue since last August.
The Eagles expect to welcome back Jeremy McGovern to bolster an already strong squad. Geelong should regain skipper Joel Selwood, but nonetheless remain a weakened side owing to numerous injury concerns.
