In Round 4, the Western Bulldogs lost to Collingwood by 14 points as the Bulldogs struggled to move the ball forward and hit the scoreboard in the opening half. They got going after the break, before the Pies came home too strong.
It was a scrappy Friday night clash, riddled with errors and about as uninspiring as AFL gets, but the Bulldogs couldn’t hold on for a surprise win over the Magpies.
Last weekend Carlton also suffered a loss, dropping a thriller by two points to the Suns at Metricon Stadium.
Carlton had seemingly sealed the match late in the fourth term, but a snapped goal by Jack Bowes in the dying seconds secured a third Suns victory and dealt the Blues their fourth consecutive loss.
At selection there were a few changes for the sides this week.
The Western Bulldogs will blood two debutants against the Blues, midfielder Will Hayes and defender Lachie Young, who came to the club through the NAB AFL and Rookie Drafts, respectively.
Bailey Williams also returns to the side.
The Bulldogs will be without Taylor Duryea (hip) and Matthew Suckling (groin), who are ruled out with injuries.

The Blues lose Will Setterfield to a two-week suspension for rough conduct against the Suns’ Wil Powell in the second quarter of last weekend’s loss.
Matthew Lobbe and Levi Casboult have been dropped from Carlton’s 22, but are named as emergencies.
The last time these teams met was in round six, 2018 where the Bulldogs notched up a 21-point win over the struggling Blues.
Almost a year on and Carlton find themselves in a similar position, in desperate need of a win.
