The Geelong Cats are pressing for a top-two spot, while the Western Bulldogs are trying to stay in the eight as the two sides clash at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).
The Bulldogs did themselves a world of good last week, with a strong third quarter enough for them to see off Melbourne – one of their biggest rivals to a finals spot – and remain inside the eight. They’ve got a very tough run home, however, with today’s clash against the red-hot Cats critical. They’ll likely need an upset this week or next to stay in the eight.
It wasn’t flashy, but the Cats got the job done against Adelaide last week to extend their winning streak to four. Geelong haven’t lost consecutive games all year and, boasting the league’s best percentage, look primed for a tilt at the flag when finals begin.
The Bulldogs have won two of their last three matches against the Cats, including their last meeting by 16 points, but had lost 11 in a row prior to that. The Doggies have won four of six on the Gold Coast this season, with Geelong one from one.
