Western Bulldogs number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan makes his long-awaited debut against the Sydney Swans and idol Lance Franklin in a good old-fashioned Sunday afternoon blockbuster. Follow along with live scores on The Roar from 3:20pm (AEST) as Round 16 begins.

Perhaps not since Jack Watts has a first game been so keenly anticipated. Despite the Bulldogs’ dominant form, Ugle-Hagan’s lengthy wait for a senior call-up and extended stay in the VFL has prompted conjecture aplenty, with rumours even circulating of interest in a trade.

However, the time has finally come for last year’s top pick; and fittingly, lining up at the other end will be Swans champion, and Ugle-Hagan’s boyhood hero, Lance Franklin. The two have been compared since the Bulldog burst onto the scene with some stellar displays in junior footy… no pressure there.

The Swans thumped the Eagles last week by a whopping 92 points, while an underwhelming Bulldogs were still far too good for the last-placed North Melbourne. They’ll need to be better than that to best the Swans, who have the luxury of going in unchanged.
