The North Melbourne Kangaroos were one of three clubs admitted to the AFL in 1925. The Kangaroos have won four AFL flags, with success coming in 1975 and 1977, then again in 1996 and 1999. The club currently plays a handful of games in the Tasmanian capital, Hobart.
A strong finish to last season saw caretaker coach Rhyce Shaw handed the reins full-time ahead of 2020 and had many predicting further improvement or, at the very least, consistent competitiveness from the Kangaroos.
But, despite starting 2-0, 2020 couldn’t have gone any worse for North Melbourne. Their only win after Round 2 came against wooden spooners Adelaide and the last third of the season saw the bottom fall out completely as they became worryingly uncompetitive. The disaster saw an unprecedented list cull once the season was complete as the club looks to begin a huge rebuild.
