Father's heartwarming speech to Demons debutant goes viral

The Melbourne Demons have released footage of a stirring speech made by Lee Baker – father of Oskar – who made his debut against the West Coast Eagles.

Oskar’s mother Trudie died two years ago from cancer and the emotion was evident in Lee’s voice as he spoke about what the moment meant to the family and how proud she would have been of her son. Lee said that the attributes that Oskar possesses are all directly from Trudie’s influence and have helped him make it into the AFL. “All the traits I wish I could say came from me, I suspect they mostly came from your mother. “You made a promise to her and you’re about to fill that promise,” he said.
