Latest man-on-the-mark 50m penalty from AFL scratch match has fans in uproar
The AFL season hasn’t even started yet and there is already major controversy over one of the new rules for 2021.
The new law preventing the man on the mark from so much as moving a muscle has caused consternation throughout the pre-season, with this particularly harsh incident involving Fremantle’s Brennan Cox leading to widespread criticism.
Cox appeared to only be stretching his legs as West Coast’s Oscar Allen lined up for goal, but apparently, that was enough for the umpire to award a 50-metre penalty to gift the Eagles a goal.
If the season proper is going to be adjudicated as harshly as this, God help us all.
