Sickening scenes as Sam Simpson gets knocked out by his own teammate
For the second time in the AFL grand final a player needed to be stretchered off the ground due to concussion after a sickening head knock to Sam Simpson.
Simpson and Cats teammate Sam Menegola both went in for marking contest in Geelong’s forward line.
Menegola took the mark but in the process collected Simpson’s head. He was immediately knocked out and then hit the ground hard.
The game was stopped for almost 10-minutes before Menegola went back and kicked the goal to keep the Cats in the contest.
In the end though the Tigers were too strong – winning a third premiership in four years.
