Touching moment between Collingwood coach and his son after heartbreaking GF loss
New behind-the-scenes footage of the West Coast Eagles’ thrilling five-point win over the Collingwood Magpies in the 2018 AFL Grand Final has been released.
Last year’s premiership-decider will be remembered as one of the great grand finals after Dom Sheed produced an ice-cool late match-winner from the boundary to help the Eagles to their fourth AFL premiership.
AFL Media has produced an in-depth look into the players and coaches reactions to the see-sawing affair which saw the Eagles come back from 29 points down in the opening quarter.
In the video, even West Coast ruckman Nathan Vardy revealed his surprise at Sheed’s decision to kick a drop punt instead of a snap for the all-important set shot from the boundary, while audio from immediately after the heartbreaking loss shows Magpies coach Nathan Buckley consoling his son.
The two teams will meet again at the MCG in 2019 in a Round 4 clash.
