I’m sorry but this is my point! As much as I respect Johnson and Pearce for what they have contributed to the club, this is not the business to be handing out farewell games! It just takes away another game from one of the young fellas!

Why Ross should no longer be boss

Yes I get the feeling i’ll cop a bit from the Lyon fanboys but i’m prepared for that! Yeah I agree with a lot of that, the warning signs were there in 14/15.

On the young players, I think there is a lot of good talent. the likes of Cox, Ryan, Brayshaw, Cerra (if he stays), Darcy, Crowden, Giro and Banfield are all going to be very good players for us but I think they are hamstrung under this current system. I’d love to see Brennan Cox playing a lot more out of the goalsquare than he is currently being used, especially when Taberner comes back to play CHF.

SHilly is an interesting one, I love the bloke but I remember some of the games he played in his early years and thought this boy would be a star. Still been a solid contributor but that dash and excitement he had in his early years seems to be gone. Whether thats his own fault or Lyon’s, we’ll have to wait and see but after 200 games I wonder whether he has reached his potential?

Why Ross should no longer be boss

My family, and in more recent times myself, have continued to stump up money for this club year in year out and i’ll continue to do so because I love the club, but gee, I cannot remember a more disappointing time in the clubs history. Even as a young kid in the early 2000s when we were absolutely rubbish, I still remember more excitement than this. We didn’t win many games but there was a culture that has been completely lost!

I have to thank you Anon for bringing those comments Lyon made when he re-signed to my attention the other day! And yes I certainly agree with you. I honestly believe in 2014 and then 2015 the warning signs that we would fall off a cliff were there and credit to you, you picked it. Some of us, myself included, ignored the fact the style of football we played was average because we were still getting results.

I don’t remember Freo winning many games by over 6 goals in 2015. They’d always come racing out of the blocks and kick 5 or 6 early on before holding on for dear life to win the game because of a superior defence. The complete satisfaction that fans get from a complete performance was never there.

Why Ross should no longer be boss

Yeah I feel ya, the interest and anticipation I normally have on game day just isn’t there. On the Adelaide game, I feel we read into it too much, myself included. The cold hard facts were that the Crows were absolutely shot by injuries and we beat them by 3 points. Don’t get me wrong it was still a good performance but some of the praise that Lyon got after that game from the media was completely unwarranted.

Yeah i’d be happy with Suma as the main man and Schoey his assistant to groom him for future senior coaching roles. Suma certainly deserves it!

Why Ross should no longer be boss

Yeah i’m the same. The excitement and anticipation I used to have on game day, even in the days of Connolly and Harvey just isn’t there.
I get the feeling it isn’t a particularly close knit group. I do actually know a couple of the younger players and without going into detail at all I get the sense not all is right.
Fyfe seems to work with Lyon well but i’m not sure his relationship with the younger players is strong. Apparently standoffish and distant.

Why Ross should no longer be boss

No I think he’d be a terrible appointment for a rebuilding side such as Carlton or the Gold Coast. He’s at his best coaching a side that is an ‘almost’ side, with quality on their list but just not quite making it. GWS comes to mind as a side he’d be a good fit at but I think to adapt to modern football he’d have to dramatically change his current coaching style!

Why Ross should no longer be boss

If they manage that i’ll forever praise the board! Won’t happen though as Clarkson has expressed a desire to remain a one club coach!
