Agree that Harris should go out and move Khawaja to open where he has his best test record. Harris also made a couple of blunders in the field so although harsh I think its warranted. Given the week rest, I would also stick with the bowling unit from Headingly that dismantled England in the first innings. Do we know if Steve Smith is a definite starter due to the concussion protocols?

Aussies need a reshuffle but only one change for fourth Ashes Test

What if Ablett Snr had stayed at Hawthorn

What if Lance Franklin had signed with GWS?

Good article Josh. Promises to be one of the more interesting vote counts for as long as I can remember. Would have been great for them to hold it during this weekend’s bye rather than waiting for GF week. Interestingly although Tom Mitchell was the raging favourite last year there was only 4 votes in it at the end. I think it could be a tie with two or three equal at the end of the count. Lachie Neale and the Bont for me. Dangerfield and Kelly will share votes and I dont think Cripps will get enough 3 votes given Carlton’s win/loss record. Dont be surprised if Dusty makes a big run towards the back end.

Why this year’s Brownlow Medal count will be one for the ages

I think very ordinary is a little harsh anon. Agree they dont posses the superstars of some of the other teams but they have some good honest footballers. I can see some similarities with the build in 2008 where Clarko taught them how to defend the ground and then the scoring ability came after that. Scoring has been an issue this year and is definitely an area needing to address.

Will the ageing Hawks finally hit the draft?

Patton is a big risk in my opinion but if they can get him for similar terms that they got Scully then its worth the risk. I really like Mitch Lewis who is still a little way off his best but lets not forget that he was picked up at #76 in the 2016 draft so a lot of upside and finally Tim O’Brien is starting to string together some solid games too.

Will the ageing Hawks finally hit the draft?

Interesting thought Roger of Sydney. Not sure if it’s possible to play above your ability as you play the way you play. Of course Clarkson is a huge part of it as I mentioned in the article. The next Gen is there now time to move forward.

Will the ageing Hawks finally hit the draft?

I hear what you’re saying PeteB but I think the club identified that they had cover in the position that Burton was playing i.e. half back intercept player, so made the bold decision to trade to get Wingard. Although Chad had a slow start his last month was more of what is expected. I suppose as I said, time will tell.

Will the ageing Hawks finally hit the draft?

No need to be like that Jack. How about providing some meaningful comments to support your thoughts.
