Can't help but get caught up in the romance of AFL.

And I think with the side Melbourne have they’re more than capable of doing this well. Obviously Geelong were an umpires call away from the game, but their forward’s pressure is quite different which probably didn’t help last week.

Will the Swans be Melbourne’s greatest test this season?

Yeah definitely agree, it’s one of the best stories to come out of the first couple of rounds. The Swans have switched their playing style up a bit as well which has made for a much more exciting brand with a nice blend of young and old – you love to see it.

I just don’t think anyone really saw this game being as big as it is prior to the season’s start, which makes it all the more interesting come Saturday night.

Same here, a nice and tight contest that goes into the final quarter to keep fans guessing would be great! It’s hard to tell which way it’s going to go in my opinion, but on paper you’d back the Dees.

Will the Swans be Melbourne’s greatest test this season?

Yeah I think the ruck battle will be something to look out for, especially because both sides rely so heavily on them two performing. Geelong aren’t an easy side to beat, so I think the tails will be up for the Swans especially with Buddy back and confidence in that Richmond win at the G. It makes for a cracking contest either way.

Same here, my Demon friends are waiting very cautiously at the moment.

Will the Swans be Melbourne’s greatest test this season?

Definitely agree, he flies under the radar but no doubt puts up the same performance as your Bonts and Treloars. I honestly thought that whole Essendon debacle was just to string them along the trade period, but that amount of money would entice any player.

I’m still of the belief as well that we probably need a solid key defender to help Weitering down back, Plowman just isn’t crash hot at the moment.

The navy blue predicament

Really wonder whether Dunkley would want to leave a side like the dogs, but 100% get your point in that there needs to be another midfielder willing to take and give hits whilst being penetrative in attack.

Sadly, I do think Dow has definitely been given plenty of chance but he’s just not up to scratch – Stocker has only had a handful of games though and I think he was played out of position over the weekend too, so there’s still plenty of time for him.

The navy blue predicament

Yeah it’s been a strange decision to not play him off the half-back.

Correct me if I’m wrong but did he start on the half-back line against Collingwood? I remember him having a lot to do early in that game.

The navy blue predicament

That’s a great point – a lot of these “younger” players have had enough time now to prove whether they’re going to take it to the next level.

Also agree that Teague needs more time, I think media hype and hype from the club in general has perhaps created this greater expectation and weight on him.

The navy blue predicament

Thanks for your critique.

I don’t think either game against Fremantle or Gold Coast were great performances despite the result, definitely not convincing for top 8 football.

Against both Brisbane and Port Adelaide they’ve managed to tighten the deficit with some late goals that’s turned 30+ point margins in to 15-20 ones.

I think their problem area is more of a defensive one, man-on-man defending being the primary issue as well as not capitalising on good passages of play. Totally agree as well that their decision making is letting them down, this comes in part with their so-so disposal at times.

The navy blue predicament

I totally agree, I think the side has some real talent but perhaps is just under-coached at the moment. Either that, or Teague just hasn’t quite found the winning formula yet.

I think Walsh, Weitering and McKay are perhaps the three that have elevated – the rest do seem to be underperforming. Setterfield was poor early only due to him playing on the wing (despite being a natural inside mid) so if he’s not played out of position and wins the hard ball he could definitely come through.

I don’t necessarily think Cripps is lacking confidence, I think he’s just feeling the weight of carrying the side for so long take its toll. He is still an elite footballer in my opinion, just needs to learn how to adapt to a run and carry game and back his kicking to penetrate into some i50s. This week is huge both for him and the team in showing the comp that they can adapt their playing styles and put pressure on in the big games.
