Kasey…damned straight I’m a lazy writer. It’s lazy writing like this that helps provoke well researched, passionate and energetic commentary like yours. I’d love to address some of your points but 1. you’ve nailed most of them and 2. I’m just too lazy!

Jumping on the Sky Blue bandwagon

Thanks Stevo….I’ll need to increase the sarcasm levels next time so that it’s not just lacing the piece but rather totally dripping with in the future. Appreciate you picked up on the odd insight. I thought they might have been buried too deep to be recognised!

Jumping on the Sky Blue bandwagon

100% right Damiano. Juve before Inter. Gold star for you and a rap on the knuckles for the editors who missed that one.

Save the abused Arsenal captains of London

Tom you are an island of reality in an ocean of diahrrea

The real losers from London 2012

Cheers mate

(Un)fortunately I didn’t get that far into the closing ceremony. After watching George Michael do his best “I’m your dirty Uncle” impersonation onstage I switched to SBS

The real losers from London 2012

And they didn’t even apply Vaseline. Very painful experience.

Not sure about wailing. For mine it’s definitely not exclusive to funerals and/or middle eastern walls. Good luck using it in your daily discourse

Ricky Stuart: Sentenced to the Eels institution

Maybe that’s our advice to Ricky. Keep your nose clean and your mouth shut and you too could be home free in 18 months time!!!

Ricky Stuart: Sentenced to the Eels institution

Already onto my third coldie Bluedog…good times

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

And here I saw hoping more for addition by subtraction. But I sense you’re an experienced negotiator. I’ll chuck in Ben Roberts and every photo in existence of Carl Webb and Chris walker in eels jerseys

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Oikee, stop trying to make me feel better mate. I admire your best efforts at positivity, but the back handed compliments only go so far

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Keep the love coming Rach

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Dane, buddy…I love Hindy but a man’s gotta draw the line somewhere

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Amen Hoy…imagine a guy like that in a maroon jersey! You’d have hundreds of thousands of kids called Nathan running around as a tribute.

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Hey Oikee. Thanks for that fantastic analysis. Now I’m even more depressed. Someone set me on fire!

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Or even better, they could teach him their wrestling secrets and he’d become the greatest tackler/grappler in the world. Totally unstoppable force

Roar Petition: Save Nathan Hindmarsh!

Cheers Mick

I honestly feel sorry for Fletch. I know if i don’t take my usual 10.00 am trip to the crapper I get a bit cranky. Imagine not having gone for over two years. You’d really crack the sh#ts…pardon the pun.

Love that you got rid of Park and Owen twice. I say let’s get rid of them a third time just to make sure they’re really gone. As much as I’ve got man-love for Giggs and Scholes their time has to be up right? Definitely need someone world class in the middle to pull the strings.

United, Berba and sexy football

Completely agree that okon had the potential to be number one if his body didn’t betray him…and ivanovic is certainly unlucky to be omitted. He looked ungainly and unathletic, but no one had greater positional sense or a higher IQ

Harry Kewell named Socceroos' best ever

The glass is still half full for Canberrans…at least they’re not Eels fans!

Canberra’s unbeatable game plan finally decoded

It’s not often I agree with government ministers, but amen. Let’s concentrate on big, vocal crowds week in week out. Statues and stand will follow afterward. No point in having the bosnich stand if you’re playing in front of an empty stadium…or not playing at all. Just ask a few league or football clubs that have folded what their priorities now are

Wanderers must show some respect

Johnno…the best reply I have is you’ve got more spelling and grammatical errors than facts in that list. But I agree that Hayne is an overrated git

Wanderers must show some respect

Most fans don’t know or care who officially owns the stadium. The team and fans own the stadium, regardless who holds the physical deed. It’s irrational and illogical, but true. Look at merseyside. It makes perfect sense for everton and livo to play in a shared stadium which would be council owned. in utopia it sounds great. In reality it’ll never happen. The barca and rangers examples could be any teams and their homes in Europe.. It’s the bond of club, fan and home ground that I’m getting at.

Wanderers must show some respect

The difference with etihad stadium as an example is that it was created specially as a stadium to house a variety of teams and sports. The model of the afl is to for a handful of stadia to house multiple teams, which eliminates the concept of a single team ‘owning’ a stadium

Wanderers must show some respect

I hate to bang on about the same thing, but I think you’re missing the point. It not an issue whether the stadium is leased, owned, gifted, tenanted, freehold or simply squatted in. There’s an emotional element, and last time I checked emotional bonds are a massive part of being a sports fan. It’s what makes football the most popular sport globally. It’s what the afl has with their cradle to the grave concept. It’s why it’s so important for a father to pass on his colors to his son. Parra stadium was built on the ashes of cumberland oval for the express purpose of housing the local professional rugby league team. Sure it’s played host to a range of other sports/events, but it’s been the eels home since 1986. When the wsw build there own story and bond with their community then their colors will fly high, but you just can’t manufacter legacy out of thin air. It has to be earned.

Wanderers must show some respect

Fuss…I’ll state straight up I’m a football fan over a league fan first and foremost. And as a Sydney westie I’d love nothing more than for a successful team representing the west to be playing in a successful, well manged league.

Your points re: ownership and tenancy are spot on, but misses the point somewhat. Whilst a piece of paper might say the nsw govt is the official owner, parra stadium and the eels are bonded by far more than paperwork. And that bond has been created by a history with the local community, not something fabricated overnight.

The same way barca and the camp nou got hand in hand, or rangers and ibrox, so too the eels and parra stadium.

The wanderers would be better served embracing their new community and winning their hearts with performances on the field. Filling the stadium with bums on seats and 90 minutes of song will go a lot further than changing the local colors on the grandstands.

Also, I’ve been out to parra stadium for state league football finals hundreds of times, watching the likes of bonnyrigg and blacktown fight it out. There was never any issue with the stadium feeling ‘un-football’ like. The people create the atmosphere…not the statues

Wanderers must show some respect

No drama Gremlin…it’s been a while since I was called a teenage girl so I was a little flattered anyway!
