I am one of those that think he should get a life ban. A deliberate act that could have potentially caused death just isn’t cricket. Needs to be made an example of, no matter what the personal circumstances.

I am one of many who suffer from depression/mental illness. I don’t let my work involve potentially killing someone. As I keep saying, Depression is an illness, not an excuse.

Cartwright carnage: The reckless act that has to be seen to be believed

Thanks mate. Few strides here and there from being a fat day, but I’ll take Testashadow and Target In Sight.

Saturday Sure Things Magic Millions Day preview

Would have agreed with Miss Wonderland Bulldog had it not been last start. Just a bit plain for mine. But on her Flemington win where she did all the work into the wind, a place chance for sure.

Saturday Sure Things Magic Millions Day preview

I can understand the boring aspect. But as a whole, it’s just marvellous to see that each and every major day they target, they dominate. It’s something I’ve never seen across all three codes and I doubt we will ever see a trainer or training partnership as dominant as Purdon/Rasmussen.

Really looking forward to this Summer Carnival at Melton and then onto Sydney. Will be really intriguing to see how they fare

Can the Stars shine too brightly?

Looks sharp Scott, but what’s underneath the hood remains to be seen. On face value, she looks sharp but the time was nothing flash compared to other 2YO races. Could be a risk

Magic Millions: My contenders and pretenders - taking on Winning Rupert!

You want those horses in this list alongside Winx and co? Umm…I’ll leave that there and let it go through to the keeper.

The criteria is the best major wins that I witnessed. I don’t follow International Racing aka the UK, only when it’s carnival time.

I’m happy with that list, with the exception perhaps being Hartnell’s Turnbull not getting a mention.

Racing's top ten champions from the year 2016

I don’t mind the idea Razzar. Only because it’s NYE and it’s a great opportunity to draw a crowd, which I’m sure they will this afternoon/tonight. I think Canterbury should have done the same.

Behind the barriers: Five bets for the long weekend

Cheers lads. From what I saw on the weekend, she’ll give the Magic Millions an almighty shake.

Behind the barriers: Five bets for the long weekend

History says that we have already seen the Magic Magic Millions and indeed the Slipper winner.

I’ll agree there are guns we haven’t seen yet, but I doubt they will be precocious enough. Sires/Champagne and into the 3YO season for those types. One horse that could fit that criteria is a horse called Thrilled for Godolphin. Trialled very well in October at Wyong and is in the paddock now. Look for him in the Autumn

Magic Millions: My contenders and pretenders - taking on Winning Rupert!

Good read as always Michael.

Would be interested to get your thoughts on the track situation in NZ and the continual abandonment of meetings despite seemingly fine weather

Change whips up fear and doubt

Perhaps re Fabrizio, but he did have a gutbusting Winter/Spring. Never easy to peak several times in one prep.

Behind the barriers: The five best bets for Saturday

It just seems a big ask for Fabrizio to win a tough Randwick mile on a bog track seven weeks between runs. That’s why I want a horse with complete fresh legs, and Sense Of Occasion was given a good hitout in that trial.

Agree re Duca Valentinois. Big, big weight drop is a tick and I think he will get through the conditions okay.

Behind the barriers: The five best bets for Saturday

I think so Hrad. It’ll turn me off punting there that’s for sure.

But I highly doubt Racing Australia will do the same. All the control of the horse is with the human and if he has nothing to help the horse when it plays up…hard not to think worst case scenario

Harness racing in Australia under the whip, but faltering

The way that some of the tracks in Victoria and co have been racing recently, I’ve somewhat turned to Harness Racing when it comes to punting…and to say that some drives are “suspect” would be very kind. Bringing in this whip rule will only just add to that.

I’m not saying it’s not a good industry. But I’d need limbs like a spider to count the amount of severe rules/laws have been breached by people in the industry in recent years. And we are talking big names.

Harness racing in Australia under the whip, but faltering

You’ve mentioned a couple of runners there Razzar I’ve lost patience with. D-Day for Angharad I think. Hasn’t had luck this prep, but she finds a very winnable race.

Un De Sceaux is a horse I’ve had time for since early on in his three year old season and he has shown glimpses but is yet to get the win on the board. Broke 34 mid race last start so to stick on was huge. Better when he gets a drag up, so if that happens here he is right in the mix.

As for Hopgfarten, I think wait til he gets to the Doomben mile and perhaps slightly further.

Saturday Sure Things: Ascot and Eagle Farm preview

Agree Bulldog. Looks to be good speed and I think that could work against Malaguerra a touch hence why I am clearly with Terravista.

Saturday Sure Things: Ascot and Eagle Farm preview

Agree Galaxy Raider, also having something each way Quedoutes.

Railway is near impossible. The price of Kawi is unbelievable. Can’t have He Or She. I think he is a pretender. Mackintosh, had he drawn a gate, I’d be all over. Still on top, but not as much confidence

Saturday Sure Things: Ascot and Ballarat preview

Agree re Illustrious Lad. If he turns up fit and healthy, he is close to a moral in the Goodwood.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the Autumn re three year olds. I think where ever Comin’ Through goes, whether it be Randwick or Flemington, he wins. He reminds me alot of Kermadec and I can see him emulating the feats of that horse and winning the Doncaster.

Past the post: Zipping Classic Day wrap

Yeah, I’ll do separate previews of both the Ballarat Cup meeting and the first week of the Masters at Ascot.

Regarding the Railway, I am all over Kawi. I can’t believe the price he is at. His last start effort was enormous given he chased a brutal speed and was fresh. Only upside with him and at around $11, that’s an outstanding each way price. Should be nearly favourite.

Past the post: Zipping Classic Day wrap

If ever there was going to be a protest, it should have been yesterday. Punters are getting dudded for getting beat by a horse who broke the rules. Not good enough

The whip rule: Go for home

Didn’t really consider Malaguerra myself KV but gee he maps well, tracking up a hot speed and will be on the outside fence.

Emirates Stakes Day: Tips and previews

Get on him today at Sale Razzar. If you liked him at Flemington, load up on him this arvo

Saturday sure things: Emirates Stakes Day preview

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That’s why we live in this great country. But this article is just utter nonsense.

Couple of facts for bedtime reading:

The total number of racing starts in Victorian racing has averaged 43,037 per year over the last ten years. During that time, the horse safety record has averaged 99.95% with fatal racing accidents occurring in just 0.05% of starts.

There is roughly 9000 horses racing in Victoria each year, and close to $300 Million is spent each year to ensure the safety of both horse and human.

Tim, if you watched horse racing every day, like I do, it’s very rare for a horse to go amiss during a race. It it just a shame that the showpiece event has seen fatalities. But don’t blame the horses and not wanting to be there. It has been due to the dry tracks and the footing underneath. It is nothing like what they have in Europe.

You’re entitled to take your stance. But before you have a dig at this great industry, you might want to get some proper facts.

Why I can no longer watch horse racing

Not necessarily Will, but I, like many, certainly believe that if ever an international is going win the Cup first up, it will be this year. I think at the price, Almandin is the play. But if you look at weights and ratings, Hartnell has a margin on these. But previously, he hasn’t reacted positively to having his heart broken.

Melbourne Cup runner-by-runner preview

First up after a decent break Andrew she was very good to the eye, but she did have a cuddle behind the speed. Same thing may happen here, but just worried that she is a stayer that she may race flat second up off a ripping fresh return.

Melbourne Cup Day sure things
