GWS and the Suns were gifted home games??? For Pete’s sake! How many ‘away’ games do Melbourne teams play against other Melbourne teams? This Victorian whining about misperceived injustices gets a bit much.

'Dripping in inequality and stupidity': Footy is back... and so is AFL interference

Molloy was funny. She handled it with wit and a straight boot.

'Why not be a bit cheeky?' Molloy's hilarious crowd clapback the highlight as Swans secure maiden AFLW finals win

I’m so with you on the wastefulness in front goals from the Swans, particularly from set shops. If they had turned two of those behinds into goals each game, then they would be sitting inside the top eight. They have lost or drawn three close games.

Footy Fix: The Swans exposed every one of the Dogs' biggest weaknesses - but did it come too late to save their season?

😂

Zampa’s India tour snub fair enough as selectors can't put white-ball form ahead of Sheffield Shield hard yards

I agree, the selectors were right to pick Swepson. And Todd Murphy, based on this Sheffield Shield results, is a clever pick. So would someone please remind me why Ashton Agar has been selected?

Leaving his or her ground early, I meant to write.

How to fix cricket’s bubbling Mankad issue (by doing absolutely nothing)

I agree. Run a few out at national and international level and the batters will stop cheating. The non-striker leaving her ground early, before the bowler has released the ball, is about gaining an unfair advantage (which is why the rule used to be in Law 41 – Unfair Play; it is unfair for the non-striker to do this). The exact same rule is now in Law 38 – Run Out to make it clear that it is acceptable to dismiss batters this way.

Agreed. Pressure, effort and the skill to move the ball out of the back line time and time again.

AFL Finals Focus: The Swans needed to find a way past mighty May. Buddy the decoy was how they did it

That was the point of the article. Buddy responded by dragging May around the 50 m area to create space for others.

Wow, you were quick to get such a thoughtful and lengthy article up so quickly after the game. Buddy Franklin is a team player. No doubt.

BRETT GEEVES: Is it just coincidence that Roos are biggest dog's breakfast in Aus sport since Sandpapergate?

Why isn’t BG writing for the ABC or The Age (and being paid)? Beyond his blokey, story telling humour is an insightful, analytical mind and a gift for language.

I actually really enjoyed the analysis in this article. Thanks for writing it.

AFL Saturday Study: No May, no Melbourne? How magnificent Swans exposed the Dees... again

So May missing from the Demon’s back line was the difference in the teams? Have I undertood the articles subtle theme? ????

Thank you, Brett.

BRETT GEEVES: The night Roy threw a beer at my head and won my heart forever

Agreed.

BRETT GEEVES: Round 5 was a s--t show and ludicrous spate of 50m penalties threatens to derail AFL season

At least we know in which era you were watching Play School, Rowdy. ????

BRETT GEEVES: 'Nonsensical' moment the ump love-in brutally ended - and only 10 vodka Red Bulls can set things straight

I love clever analysis of rugby league; there’s not a lot of it around. Thank you. This article will give me more to think about when the Rabbitohs take on the Bulldogs this arvo.

The Numbers Game: Lachlan Ilias on how halfbacks actually play heads-up footy

A poignant read. Thanks.

BRETT GEEVES: What Buddy Franklin has taught me about love and loss

Brett, that was a fun read. Thank you.

BRETT GEEVES: 'Nonsensical' moment the ump love-in brutally ended - and only 10 vodka Red Bulls can set things straight

You are right, Angela, about subjective v objective. Even so, now and then it does feel like one umpire in the game has it in for our Swans. ????????

BRETT GEEVES: 'Nonsensical' moment the ump love-in brutally ended - and only 10 vodka Red Bulls can set things straight

“Eight goals in the first term, despite the heavy wave of pressure, added to the growing feeling that 2021 will be played…”
Gee, we’re going back in time.

ANALYSIS: 'An extraordinary performance'- AFL instant classic as Swans star outshines Buddy with famous five, Giants' 'out and out jet' emerges

Parker, Heeney, Hickey and the McCartins in the back line. Love it.

Nothing to discuss. Batter can retire any time. In Silk’s case he was injured and could have done himself more damage trying to run two, so it made sense. Law 25 says:
25.4 BATTER RETIRING
25.4.1 A batter may retire at any time during his/her innings when the ball is dead. The umpires, before allowing play to proceed, shall be informed of the reason for a batter retiring. (Note that, the umpires have to know whether the batter is retiring out or retiring hurt in which case they are allowed to return. For the last ball of a T20 game, the reason doesn’t matter.)

'Not in the spirit of the game': What's your call on the most controversial finish in BBL history?
