Super disappointing. The growing disconnect between the editors/ writers on this site and the rugby community on these pages is alarming.

COMMENT: In trading Greatest Showman for 'boring' and 'pragmatic' Sleepy Joe, RA gambling with game's future

He brought him up all by himself when speaking of the Wallabies top backline with channel nine:
“There’s a lot of good players in Australian rugby,” Jones said.

“You just look at the backline Australia could potentially have: (Samu) Kerevi, when he’s fit, (Len) Ikitau as centres, on the wing you’ve got (Marika) Koroibete, the Melbourne Storm boy Vunivalu on the wing, competing against (Andrew) Kellaway.”

I’ll re-iterate that mentions like that concern me as It leaves out not only incumbent Wallabies wingers but also a lot of names I would consider far better than Vunivalu.

ANALYSIS: Unbeaten Brumbies hang on against Reds as O'Connor sends timely reminder to Wallabies

Not sure I agree there. I feel Suli has been right up there with the players EJ has singled out the most – all the more notable as he was nowhere near the incumbent winger when DR was fired and has never warranted the amount of money thrown down to bring him from league.

Agreed on Vunivalu. It worries me that EJ praises him so consistently, such a lazy winger who just doesn’t look for work. Muirhead very impressive over these last two weeks.

Yup.

Wasn't this meant to be Eddie's fault? 'Exposed' England walloped by France, Wales win battle of also rans

Skill execution under pressure by the French 1-15 was sublime, truly beautiful to watch. Cannot wait to see that team perform at a home World Cup.
Score lines can blow out but that was a worryingly insipid English performance, particularly in the forwards. Dombrandt was atrocious and the others anonymous. If they can’t get up for a game like that it bodes poorly for WC.

Get Razor Robinson to coach it.

OFFICIAL: South Africa are out as Rugby Championship reverts to Tri-Nations for 2020

Stats wise Richie Mo’unga and Jordie Barrett both had poor matches yesterday. I’d still rate them as pretty close to the best in the world at their positions, and pretty likely to be in the starting XV of any nation, which was my initial point with Tupou.

The Wrap: Eight and a half crazy minutes light up the Bledisloe Cup

Totally agree. The stats also don’t reflect the impact his defence often made post contact (ragdolling the form prop from SR Aotearoa) and the fact he consistently operated as a first receiver and distributor throughout the first half, rather than just pure hit ups.

The Wrap: Eight and a half crazy minutes light up the Bledisloe Cup

I think you’re being unjustly harsh in labelling it “poor”. I agree he has things to work on from that game, but his upside is pretty profound and barring some needless penalties he played very well.

Taniela Tupou would stroll into the starting XV of any country. Huge talent.

I have my questions about the team, but reserving judgement til we know more about the style of game that Rennie and co. want to play. What does make me happy is that it is in no way a Michael Cheika team! New era, thank god!

“I simply find the game fascinating”

Agreed. Try as I might to convince myself that I should watch something else and pick a sport less drenched in negativity, I am transfixed, and like you endlessly fascinated by the game.
Further to your other points, may I say it has been a joy to witness humour and a lightness of tone back in the games’ commentary. For years Kearns and co were so heavy, longing for past glories and bitter with the state of things. The commentary in last nights REB v RED was so entertaining and the joy each person had at what they were witnessing was infectious. There are many roads back to a more successful and sustainable sport, surely this is one that deserves some attention. This is entertainment after all.

Can I say I'm actually enjoying Super rugby again?
