AJ watches far too much sport. When he's not watching it, he's reading about it. When he's not reading about it, he's writing about it and when he's not writing about it, he's talking about it on the podcast ‘A Sporting Discussion’. Rugby league has AJ's heart, but he loves to give space to the sports that the mainstream forgets - he’ll never rest until Australian baseball gets the coverage it deserves! He’s always game for a debate in the comments section or on twitter @AJMithen - but you’d best come prepared!

My 2021 NRL wish list

A great weekend of trial matches are in the bank, Tigers and Sea Eagles fans are into each other, Dragons fans are in despair, Souths fans are making space for premiership merchandise and everyone’s still laughing at the Broncos. After a barren few months, nature is healing.

It’s a great point AWR- especially for those clubs with new coaches.

Don’t like it? Play better

Always racing up the road to magnificence, kk!!!

100%. The Rugby League Eye Test is a fantastic resource for League fans. Just the numbers and what they say, no agendas.

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

Wayne, V’landys is on the record as being open to move to quarters if it suits the broadcasters. Watch this space…..

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

Great post Soda

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

It’s a good point John, the fact players are fitter, bigger and stronger than ever is often overlooked in these discussions.

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

Neither of us will be modelling suits in the near future, no 🙂

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

That’s the question, isn’t it. You can’t wait to the point where there’s a hospital ward of busted players. Would you prefer an early ‘overreaction’? That’s kinda where I’m landing but obviously the injury numbers will go up and down.

And yes, last year players got busted up after the resumption, but that got swept aside in the ‘V’landys can do no wrong’ takes…

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

Wouldn’t have a problem with that either Rob.

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

I don’t mind that idea kk. The NRL love it because they want extra advertising slots too. I also agree with Nat’s reasons…

Have the NRL’s new rules created injury havoc?

I thought about that too

Morning kk – If I’m a racehorse, I’m Kensei

Not sure about that Tony.

Where are all the Victorians in the NRL?

I don’t think Kafusi saw it like that Nat. But he definitely saw an opponent he could do some damage to.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Call me a cynic Brad but unfortunately I don’t see much changing.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Semantics are great, the touch ref was closer to the play than the on-field ref.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Albo when’s the last time we’ve seen a ‘hit man’ take out an opposition playmaker early in the game? It doesn’t happen.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Greg, a touchline ref was standing 3 metres away, that’s the issue…

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Another thing the NRL needs to do is to get the clowns behind the microphones and the other media into a room and teach them some home truths about player safety in the 21st century.
If they’re doing this Paul, it’s not getting through. The ‘nothing in that’ and ‘send offs are too harsh’ schools of thought are ingrained…

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

That could work Harry

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Good post Paul. I should probably have been clearer that I’m not trying to pot the refs here, particularly Klein. They’re going with what they’re told.

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

Bang on, Harry

Two elbows, two outcomes: The NRL’s priorities are stuffed

No concerns here kk! Just head office trying to do me over again. But I beat them before and I’ll beat them again!
