AJ watches far too much sport. When he's not watching it, he's reading about it. When he's not reading about it, he's writing about it and when he's not writing about it, he's talking about it on the podcast ‘A Sporting Discussion’. Rugby league has AJ's heart, but he loves to give space to the sports that the mainstream forgets - he’ll never rest until Australian baseball gets the coverage it deserves! He’s always game for a debate in the comments section or on twitter @AJMithen - but you’d best come prepared!

De Belin drops Federal Court appeal over no-fault stand down rule

The Federal Court has already made that decision Paul, they backed the NRL. Today’s news is about De Belin’s appeal of their decision in April. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-05-17/jack-de-belin-loses-federal-court-case-aganst-ban/11124474

De Belin drops Federal Court appeal over no-fault stand down rule

Preach, jimmmy.

If you think rugby league’s ‘gone soft’, you’re wrong

Great piece Spruce. Agree with every word. Barrett got a three week holiday on top of the red card, too. Just imagine how that would have been received in league land.

Union head and shoulders above league for player welfare

How did we all pick the Raiders?!? I know why I did, but sheesh

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Round 21

I’m not really sure what you’re after here Peter. I’ve stated a fact of the match and haven’t at all said it cost them the game (I actually thought the cowboys played pretty well against the Sharks). In weeks previous I’ve also talked about Shaun Johnson and Esan Marsters and their missed kicks being critical too. Happy for you to have a crack at me, but I’m not really sure we’re on the same track here.

Rupert – I’ve only kept this to FTA numbers but the Fox ones are pretty soft for Thursdays compared to the other times.

How does Another team in NZ and a 6pm game every week sound, Spruce? 🙂

It’s time to move away from Thursday night NRL

Agree BA – I think Another free to air game is what needs to happen. Whether that’s a Saturday arvo or Sunday arvo doesn’t matter to me. Fox can make it work on another channel, unless they’re busy showing the European cricket league.

Thanks Max- I should have worded that para a bit better… it’s been a long week!

This one’s a ripper, thanks Rory – Almost the best comment I’ve had. You’ve nailed me perfectly, it’s like you live next door!

“Dour, unimaginative rock fight” is the best description for that Friday game I’ve seen. Works for many others this season too.

Footy is in a funk

That’s why I support it Nat! ????

There’s plenty going on outside the State of Origin bubble

I support this. But you can guarantee halfway through week 2 People would be complaining about ‘Origin fatigue’ and calling for club games to break it up!

Thanks James and it’s a good point, we can only wonder how many beers went into recovery protocols back in the day…

There’s plenty going on outside the State of Origin bubble

I thought that too Paul but Gee deferred to the trainer, possibly because the play was moving away from Hiku. Still not good.
