Pearce off Jack, Gibbs on

The Australian cricket team could learn a lot from Piers Morgan about ethics, integrity and humility

It’s fullback or nothing for Tedesco. It would be valueless playing him at five eighth as he has no kicking or passing game and the extra defence would most likely blunt him even further. A case can be made for not selecting him for game 3 but he’s got enough runs on the board to be selected for the last origin.

If he’s still playing like this come game 1 next year then that’s when I’d imagine NSW with probably a new coach and selection panel will look elsewhere for a fullback and captain.

Could positional switch end Teddy's form slump?

If it hasn’t already, the time will come when the Roosters will decide there’s more con than pro with Radley and move him on. I get the playing tough, I get treading the fine line and playing on the edge but too many times he crosses it and last night was probably his worst yet.

He’s cost his team games before while he sitting in the bin and now he’s going to be sitting in the grandstand for the next three weeks. Hard to win the game from there.

That’s the way it is in all media because that’s what sells papers and draws eyeballs. If the public wanted stories about players going to children’s hospitals and helping out a soup kitchens, which are things that happen, then that’s what they’d get. But nobody cares about that stuff so that’s why they cover what they do. It’s hardly limited to NewsCorp either. All media do this.
At the end of the day it is just people’s opinions. Which in a democracy with free speech they’re entitled to. You don’t have to like them. You don’t have to agree with them. But you don’t have the right to silence them.

Paul Kent's domestic violence charges are far more serious than just a 'rugby league soap opera'

This article seems like yet another one who has taken the opportunity to pile on to a person they don’t agree with and therefore don’t like. Kent’s opinions are exactly that and he’s entitled to them jut like anyone else is but whether or not he likes women’s league or is culturally aware when discussing indigenous players or the international game, whatever that word salad is suppose to mean, has no relevance to the situation he is facing. The soap opera line, which the anti Kent brigade have gleefully taken out of context, was something he said with 12 microphones jammed in his face after he walked out the door of the courthouse. It means nothing. It certainly doesn’t mean he’s not taking this seriously. Criticism from a handful of players using this as an opportunity for a square up after Kent did nothing more than his job during their careers is irrelevant as well. This case will get all the scrutiny it deserves and I’m sure plenty it doesn’t.

Personally I would be fine with Kent continuing to do his job but we all know that won’t happen. Presumption of innocence disappeared a long time ago and now careers are ruined with an allegation. Ask Jack de Bellin.

I just think it’s time the media reported on the facts rather than using this as an opportunity to settle some scores against a person who they might be just a tad jealous of and who maybe has just been a bit more successful than they have.

Hi guys,
If Wade’s keeping goes completely tits up which could well happen under lights and with the pink ball, is Hanscomb a viable option to replace him with the gloves?

There’s been a major update on this story. It has since emerged that 5 of the 6 players (Hurrell being the exception) have admitted to taking prescription drugs and energy drinks on the night in question. Steve Kearney and the NZRL have also come out and said it was their decision to stand the players down. Whether this is a face saving exercise I’m not sure as Kiwis selector Richie Barnett said on Friday the suspended the players were still being considered and the Warriors were adamant yesterday that it was their call to stand the players down from international duty. Still no word from either Tonga or Samoa.

For the record I didn’t disagree with the decision to stand the players down. I just thought it should’ve been the NZRL that made the decision, not the Warriors.

Warriors' international ban an overreach
