This European summer appears to be one of major overhauls for many clubs. The off-season has only just begun for clubs and yet manager…
Let’s start with some honesty: I don’t like RasenBallsport Leipzig, aka “Red Bull” Leipzig. Not many people in German football do. They are more…
Unless you're a Bundesliga regular, or a Football Manager player on the look out for wonderfully weird and different challenges, you may not know…
Jay Rich-Baghuelou? It would be nice if he could be given some game time, or a loan out to a League 1/lower-level Championship club. Clearly willing to work hard, he’s done time in the National Leagues, he needs a full season run out. I can’t see Palace giving him much in the way of opportunities at the moment.
The Crystal Palace problem
Koeman certainly has improved the team dramatically to the point where last weekend the team seemed on the verge of a title win, but I feel how he preforms next year will have a massive part to say whether or not he has actually been successful for Barca.
The significant lack of funds/spiraling debt will make transfers difficult, unless they are willing to fire-sale plays like Puig and Alena. Isn’t there also some concerns that Laporte doesn’t want to Koeman in charge anyway? Plus the apparent deal to sign Aguero will come at a big cost – it’s likely he’d be after a big sign-on fee, plus a healthy weekly wage.
Future looks promising but there’s still plenty of storm clouds around.
The positives from Ronald Koeman's first season in charge of Barcelona
Hi JD Kiwi,
I can’t say I know in depth, but they do have a great club culture, which is one of the reasons Svensson has been so successful at bringing the team together and seeing results.
Not sure about what happened in Manchester, but it sounds like a bit of a nightmare for the clubs. The past few weeks have shown fans have a new found power, although it is yet to be seen if EPL officials blame Man Utd fans and punish the club for the protests.
Is Svensson the new Klopp or Tuchel?
For his sake, and ours (Olyroos/Socceroos), I’d love to see him get a run in the first-team, but if I had to pick between 5-10min every few games, or 90min each week in the Championship, I’d take the latter. That said, if the new boss makes him a solid backup and plays him semi-regularly, that’s also a massive win. Playing cup games and getting 20-30min against lower-half teams would be the ideal scenario.
