As well as Philippe, Western Australians Ashton Turner and Matt Kelly will also be playing county cricket this season.
Following a successful season with the Scorchers, Turner will captain Durham in their upcoming Vitality Blast campaign.
Kelly will be joining Northamptonshire for their first 6 First Class games of the season, where he’ll come up against fellow Australians Mark Steketee (Essex), Daniel Worrall (Surrey), Nathan McAndrew (Warwickshire) and Jackson Bird (Kent).

Due to Boland’s maternal Grandfather being adopted, it was only until around around 7 or 8 years ago when the family discovered that the Grandfather (John Edwards) was aboriginal and was a member of the Gulidjan tribe. For more on the story, I suggest visiting: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/scott-boland-embracing-his-indigenous-background-20171219-h07811.html
Where are Scott Boland's Aboriginal XI teammates from their 2018 tour?
Thanks, let’s hope to see more of these players following in the footsteps of Scott Boland and Dan Christian in years to come.

Hi Renato, thanks for the links. I’m well aware of Victor Trumper’s class and dominance with the bat. I just feel that it’s more of a debate surrounding whether or not Bradman is the best cricketer of all time opposed to whether or not he’s even the best Australian batsman of all time.
Sources including the BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2V6BjFgdJ5KcfVHhR3bwBLz/the-greatest-cricketer-of-all-time-your-votes-revealed), Yahoo Sports (https://cricket.yahoo.net/news/the-10-greatest-cricketers-of-all-time-110104660) and many more have listed Bradman as the greatest cricketer of all-time. Between getting voted as the Greatest Male Athlete of the Past 200 years by the Australian Confederation of Sport in 1988, named Male Athlete of the Century in 1999 by the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and, in 2000, he was voted the greatest cricketer of the 20th century by Wisden Cricket Almanack.
I think it’s fair to say Bradman is Australia’s best ever batsman. In saying that, your reasoning for Victor Trumper is very sound and I’m not trying to undersell his legacy at all. Trumper’s class, consistency, and the way he went about representing Australia DEFINITELY shaped the way for the likes of Bradman, Archie Jackson and just about every Australian batsman of that generation and beyond. Thanks for your feedback.
Bradman: The man, the myth... the keeper?
Interesting point, the sites where I got my information on the O’Reilly – Bradman relationship were: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/a-notorious-feud-an-ugly-sectarian-conflict-20080927-gdswmk.html and http://cricmash.com/conflicts-controversies/2015/1/24/don-bradmans-rifts-with-his-teammates-especialy-bill-oreilly-and-jack-fingleton
Bradman: The man, the myth... the keeper?
This includes his Test and First-class centuries (29 and 117).

I think that the Vitality Blast in the UK is of very similar to level to the Big Bash. As for the Pakistan Super League, despite it not being quite as strong, it brings in more and more quality internationals every year. This year, the tournament featured Rashid Khan, Colin Munro, Ravi Bopara, Imran Tahir and Mohammad Nabi (to name a few).
Australian hopefuls have gone global
Since time of writing, Ivan Toney won the EFL Player of the Year Award at this year’s London Football Awards.
The intrigue surrounding Ivan Toney and Brentford
I’ve never understood how Mankads could be against the spirit of the game. If the rule wasn’t put in place, you would get incidences like Bravo in almost every game. I see nothing wrong with it, particularly so if a warning has been given already as well.
Dwayne Bravo's IPL tactics spark debate over the morality of the 'Mankad'
For anyone that missed it, yesterday on day 2 of WA’s Sheffield Shield game against Victoria, Joel Paris scored his maiden Sheffield Shield century. He got 102* off 155, hitting 11 4’s and a 6 in the process. On top of that, in the same day, Paris got the early wicket of opener Marcus Harris on 2.
The return of Joel Paris
The match will be played at Lilac Hill against Wanneroo and will feature big names such as Brad Hope, Nick Hobson, Cameron Steel, Jim Allenby, Kelvin Smith and Travis Birt
The return of Joel Paris
It’s been announced that Paris is in the 14-man squad for WA’s upcoming Sheffield Shield fixture against Victoria. However, if he’s 13th or 14th man, I imagine that the WACA would allow him to still play in the 1st Grade Final for Claremont-Nedlands.
The return of Joel Paris
In an article on nba.com from the 20th January this year, Ben Simmons was considered the 2nd best defender in the league for this season so far, ahead of Anthony Davis, Rudy Gobert and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The article stated: “Just to give a sample of his defensive work: RJ Barrett, Tyler Herro, Caris LeVert, Russell Westbrook, Markelle Fultz and Pascal Siakam have shot a combined 14-of-56 from the field (25 percent) when Philadelphia’s 6-foot-10 floor general has been the closest defender, per Second Spectrum tracking data.”
Ben Simmons should still be an All Star
Great to hear from a Brentford fan. If Ollie Watkins keeps up his form, having already scored 6 goals in his 12 appearances for Aston Villa, I think a potential England call-up in the upcoming seasons would be on the cards. It would be great to see Brentford in the PL next year, with talent like Ivan Toney, I hope to see them succeed in years to come.
Brentford FC could be playing in Europe
My top 7 would be: Marcus Harris, Tim Paine, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Matt Wade and Cam Green
Tim Paine should open for Australia
Justin Langer just announced that Marnus Labuschagne will not open the batting. At the moment, it’s looking like the selectors are picking between Joe Burns, Matthew Wade and Tim Paine to open the batting, probably alongside Marcus Harris. Also, (if fit), Cam Green has also been promised a spot for the first test, presumably in the middle order.
Tim Paine should open for Australia
I agree. Also, when Green is fully fit in red-ball cricket, WA lacks any international fast bowlers in their lineup. Players like Lance Morris, Matt Kelly and Cam Gannon are still good bowlers but, Green’s fitness could mean that he would be one of WA’s main pace-bowlers for years to come.
Why Australia chose Henriques over Green
Yes he is. The ball that broke Shaun Marsh’s bat was at 140kph.
The Wild Thing: Lance Morris adds to Western Australia's bulging pace stocks
As well as Mitchell at Pick 13, Bam Adebayo was at Pick 14. To think that that draft class has already produced 3 all-stars who were selected at 3, 13 and 14 is extraordinary.
What should the 76ers do in the draft?
Hi Micko, the first half of the first episode focuses on the South Africa saga and then the rest of the series follows on from there. So to answer your question, yes it does show what happened in South Africa. Hope that helps.
Why 'The Test' is a must-watch
Hi Mick, the amount of players playing fo each team at a time can vary due to factors such as the level of indoor cricket that is being played and where the match is being played. Indoor cricket matches can use either 6 or 8 players per team depending on the factors mentioned earlier.
The 2020 cricket World Cup you probably haven't heard of
Hi Paul,
India, West Indies and UAE also have very strong sides. Coming into the tournament, India won their 2 warm-up matches, which included a win against Afghanistan by 211 runs and Zimbabwe by 23 runs. Also, keeping in mind that India are the defending champs in this competition due to their successful 2018 campaign in New Zealand. West Indies also won their 2 warm-up games and defeated the likes of Canada by 3 wickets and Scotland by 126 runs. Surprisingly, the United Arab Emirates team is one to look out for, coming off victories against a strong New Zealand side by 1 wicket and Japan by 253 runs.
When it comes to names to watch out for from lesser known cricketing countries, UAE opener and wicket-keeper Vriitya Aravind is in great batting form, with recent scores of 98 and 53. He is also in good form with the gloves, getting 3 stumpings in his most recent match against Japan. Also, the Scotland wicket-keeper Tomas Mackintosh is in good knick with the bat, scoring 103 against Japan earlier this week.
The emblem that is by my name is 2 cricket bats going across each other and then a red cricket ball in the middle.
Thanks for your comment Paul, hopefully this clarifies a couple of things.
