What does the WA Chamber of Commerce have to learn from a former employee of what is essentially a cartel?

Maybe I don’t want to know.

LISTEN: Justin Langer's massive swipe at Cricket Australia and England coaching 'fake news'

Exactly, what he’s reportedly on next season in terms of AAV and contract length is the ceiling for any prop.

Andrew Fifita remains the cautionary tale.

'Pony up': Broncos must do whatever it takes to keep Haas as Origin star requests immediate release

Not literally true, no.

The Red Sox sold Ruth in 1920 for about $1.4 million USD in today’s money. A pittance compared to what the Yankees made and won with him in their team. He wasn’t much of an athlete, but clearly had an amazing eye to hit the way he did.

'Pony up': Broncos must do whatever it takes to keep Haas as Origin star requests immediate release

You have to ask, mate. Somebody might not be in their right minds at any given point in time.

The Boston Red Sox once traded Babe Ruth for a bag of beans. 70 years later they traded Jeff Bagwell for a bag of beans in human form (Larry Anderson).

'Pony up': Broncos must do whatever it takes to keep Haas as Origin star requests immediate release

Now we’re getting down to brass tacks, a Jocelyn’s pie or something from Ray’s at Oxley?

See, I am a formidable negotiator. 😁

Swap deal involving Aaron Woods, perhaps. We could be persuaded to chuck in Daniel Alvaro as well.

C’mon Broncos, you know you want to…

I don’t even know.

NRL NEWS: Warriors defend Lodge's $700,000 payout, Hasler facing fine over ref rant

In other news, the Costello press has reported that somebody thinks there’s a chance a swap between Kyle Flanagan and Jayden Sullivan could happen.

I mean, the Dragons are dumb, but not that dumb. Right?

NRL NEWS: Warriors defend Lodge's $700,000 payout, Hasler facing fine over ref rant

He wasn’t? My bad.

The sixteenists: The greatest West Indies team of players with fewer than 16 Tests

Dembélé, Gavi and Ansu Fati probably the ones to keep a close eye on.

'Free shot': Dwight Yorke says A-Leagues All Stars have chance to upset Barcelona

Good article Gibbo. I didn’t know the story of CT Stubb – thanks for that.

Three little-known cricketers who were more than the game

Brendan Nash? Though he didn’t score a century – just 92 – in Adelaide.

The sixteenists: The greatest West Indies team of players with fewer than 16 Tests

I’m a Dragons supporter too – I know what you mean.

Respect for NRL referees? Let's start with media's role in making every decision a drama

But, seriously.

Nice article and series, Zezers. Not being very familiar with Windies cricket history, there were some new names to me here – and clearly some very good players who only managed a short test career for whatever reason.

The sixteenists: The greatest West Indies team of players with fewer than 16 Tests

😱

I refuse to believe the reign of the sixteenists is over. They’ll be lurking in the shadows, waiting…

The sixteenists: The greatest West Indies team of players with fewer than 16 Tests

A couple of welcome inclusions here.

First, Gorgeous Jorge Taufua – look out Mr Munster.

Second, Jake Simpkin for Wests. I thought he was very good during the Tigers’ brief resurgence.

Round 12 team lists Late Mail: Croker, Grant suffer training mishaps, Murray, Fifita back for Origin bids, AFB out

Good stuff, Mary.

Regarding legacy media, its ignorance and incompetence is endemic. A feature, not a bug. It won’t go away while circle-jerk telling each other how wonderful they are.

Regarding social media, apart from a facebook page I use only to message friends and relatives abroad and bookmark interesting pages, I don’t use it. It’s a sewer. I recommend divesting to everybody – you’ll be much happier.

Much to my mother’s chagrin, I refuse to accept her friend requests. Why would I be facebook friends with somebody who lives in the same city and who I see regularly?

Gambling is insanity. Just give the money to charity – at least it might be put to a productive purpose.

One more thing. While it’s not in the same league as legacy and social media, I would encourage a few people who post comments on this site wailing about supposed refereeing bias against their teams to take a good look at themselves.

Neither the Rabbitohs or Warriors – or the Dragons for that matter – get or need any help to be generally crap.

They do it to themselves, they do. And that’s what really hurts.

Respect for NRL referees? Let's start with media's role in making every decision a drama

Good article – thanks Chris.

Sydney is way too lucky when it comes to public funding for football stadiums

Yes, of course – I would’ve said something similar re correlation, or lack thereof, between FP and LB but didn’t want to go on too much.

One line break often begats another (and maybe even another) but, of course, we lack the data (as you touch on in your piece) to piece things together properly.

I think I’ve previously raised the need for an NRL data summit with you – get all the wonks together, discuss what’s possible now, what’s potentially achievable, thrash out some definitions…

I hope you’re using what influence you have to push your contacts in such a direction. 👍

Why Rabbitohs were right to let Reynolds go to Broncos and put faith in Ilias

No room for Eisenhuth or Salmon?

State of Origin likely game one teams - Fifita set for final audition but Fotuaika out, Fittler coy over new Blues centres

It probably happens all the time at lower levels.

'I want to take a break': Warriors star walking away from NRL at 23

Interesting article, Mike. I broadly agree with your observations about where Souths and Brisbane are currently, and the suitability of Reynolds for his current role.

“If you take the raw line break assist and try assist numbers for Reynolds, Walker, Ilias and whoever is standing next to Reynolds for the Broncos, it is clear that Souths have more than replaced the attacking contribution that their veteran half created.”

In terms of raw numbers, this is true (28-21 to Souths). But isn’t this to be expected given the other factors you mentioned – Souths tend to play in far better field position and score more points?

What Reynolds is achieving given he doesn’t really have a halves partner and given he has far fewer opportunities close to the opposition line is pretty impressive.

Souths may be paying a short-term price, but they had to move on eventually. I’m not convinced Ilias is the answer (mainly because of his kicking) – we’ll see.

Why Rabbitohs were right to let Reynolds go to Broncos and put faith in Ilias

CHT’s a good player – I hope we see him back at some stage. But, whatever happens, I hope he finds some happiness and fulfilment.

👍 The lizard man.

NRL Round 11 talking points - It’s evolution, baby

The way Koloamatangi’s been going lately, I don’t think he should be in the NSW squad.

I’d probably lean toward Burton over Crichton, but I’m not too bothered either way.
