Great article. Any of Jokić, Embiid or Giannis would be worthy winners.

Towering trio at centre of NBA's MVP debate but true value is performing in the playoffs

Great article. Who knows if the Suns will live up to their potential, but one things for sure; Durant has a much better chance of progressing with the Suns than with the Nets.

Kevin Durant lost the battle, but may have won the war

Great piece, Tom. I still think Jokic is the MVP in the MBA, as Denver would be nothing without him, but Tatum is having a break out season.

Is it finally Tatum time?

Can we celebrate now?

Giannis Antetokounmpo just gave us a moment on the biggest stage of all

What a series by Giannis! Indeed, this moment will live as a signature illustration of his career, and he has stamped himself as a great one even if he does nothing else.

“Liz Cambage looks a bit like Simmons” ??? Hope you’re not doing a job that relies on good eyesight ????????????

Ben Simmons isn't a superstar and it's disappointing

Great article; slamming Simmons is not going to help him, but he is at the cross roads, and skipping the olympics is not going to endear him to the Aussie public. However, heading to the Olympics low on confidence doesn’t help either the Boomers cause or his own welfare.

Ben Simmons isn't a superstar and it's disappointing

Look up who made the comment and took the actions to which you refer in 2021 and you’ll see Heritier Lumumba.

Heritier Lumumba slams Collingwood's response to racism report

You use the words “educated” and “inteligent” (sic.) as if they are insults.

If a man changes his name in a way to state clearly that he no longer wishes to take an anglicised identity, then we should respect it. It is not a irrelevant matter.

(Also, the correct spellings are “divisive” and “intelligent” – sorry if that makes me sound too “educated” and “intelligent”).

Heritier Lumumba slams Collingwood's response to racism report

Firstly, he has chosen to revert to another name, and you are commenting on his actions NOW in not particopating, not when he played for Collingwood, so I’m surprised YOU’RE surprised that your use of his anglicised name has provoked a reaction.

Secondly, Collingwood’s failure to act in a timely manner has resulted in Heritier’s claim going to the courts, which would make it legally inadvisable for him to participate in the report, so he has acted wisely.

Thirdly, the fact that this report is so damning even without Lumumba’s participation is evidence enough of the deep malaise that has existed in this club for so long. That alone is grounds for Lumumba to reflect on how consistent the report is with his experiences, and how typical President McGuire’s response is to the reactions that Lumumba said he received all along.

Fourthly, since when did non-participation in an exercise mean that one is precluded from commenting on it? If this was the rule, a lot of journalists would be out of a job.

Insightful piece, and as with everything else, only time will tell.

The winners and losers of the James Harden trade

Cheers Nelson. If United lose to Everton, surely Solskjaer is gone ? Rumours are that United are talking to Pochettino already.

Games to watch out for in Week 8 of the EPL

Excellent article, Thomas, very well written. And of course, so many cricket matches (and cricketers’ careers) have been ultimately decided by the toss of a coin.

A series defined by a coin toss

One week makes a big difference, Brendan.

No issue with the actual result, the Saints played well, clearly had ruck ascendency and set an AFL / VFL record for accuracy.

What would be concerning is the last quarter capitulation. With the game on the line, you’d expect Port to storm in with strong crowd support at home against a side that didn’t perform all that well against the bottom side the week before (and an abysmal record in Adelaide). Instead, the opposite happened, and Port couldn’t get the ball inside attacking 50 at all.

Worrying signs, I think.

The Lions and the Power: Genuine premiership contenders in a strange season

If that last performance was any indication, most teams would LOVE to see Port in September.

Port were playing at home with a rabid supporter base against a Saints team coming off a torrid, unconvincing win the previous week against the bottom side …. and Port just surrendered meekly in the last quarter when the game was on the line, with barely any forward 50 entries to Port’s name.

I actually quite like Port as a side, so I have no agenda here, but that was NOT the performance of a top 8 team, let alone premiership contender.

Three reasons why Port Adelaide are not premiership contenders

You’d be looking for the return of the tissue box after this week’s performance by Port, I reckon. That last quarter was awful – Port could not have had any more than 5 or 6 inside 50’s.

Yes, put BT on a radio station … preferably one based in another country with no Australian coverage !!

It's time for Channel Seven to improve

“In reality if I wanted to see people watching TV I’d change the channel to Gogglebox or place a mirror next to my TV.” Classic comment, very funny 😂 😂

It's time for Channel Seven to improve

Agree, really good piece by Tom.

It's time for Channel Seven to improve

….either that, or BT has a photo of Kerry Stokes doing something nasty to a goat. There is no other explanation as to why BT’s contract gets renewed.

Great article, Thomas – look forward to reading more from you.
