Thanks – we’ll certainly have to wait and see. One thing to consider with England is that there are 70-odd professional clubs below the Premier League relying heavily on the trickle-down. Without that, their futures are even more perilous.

Thanks mate – hopefully it doesn’t happen in the first place.

Remind us of all the wonderful talent we have at our disposal? If we don’t qualify we don’t qualify, the world doesn’t end.
Mile Jedinak returns when Australia need him most
This article is far too simplistic and ignores the fact that we’ve never, in the grand scheme of things, really been any good on the national stage. We had one World Cup where we won one game, couldn’t win against ten men in the second round and fans spent the next 11 years saying we were “cheated”.
Then you have to consider that, even by our standards, this current generation is lacking in quality and experience, big time. And yet, Ange has provided a continental trophy and a decent enough performance in the Confederations Cup.
The sooner fans stop swanning around thinking we’re entitled to qualification every four years (let alone the bs about us having to beat ‘no name’ countries 10-0) the better we’ll be.
How to fix Australian football's issues
Looking forward to your next piece, sure it’ll be your magnum opus.

Freddie – You call out contradiction while you yourself have rushed to the keyboard to disagree with my opinion? You know, it is possible just to ignore, or disagree…
I’m more than happy for the media to talk about the important matters, I even mentioned in article that situations like this are what they’re all about. I’m simply asking for a bit of perspective, starting first off by an, admittedly, hackneyed call to arms.

Bit left field i’ll admit, but he’s the only left footed centre back I can think of that is playing regularly. Happy to be taken to task on it.
The formation works! Ten thoughts following Socceroos' victory in Adelaide
If i’m honest, i’m a bit in the dark about it as well. I do recall one of the commentators mentioning that Kruse was coming on in one of the central roles. Regardless, I feel the new formation has made us 10x more threatening in the front third, even if we’ve sacrificed some defensive stability

Glad you enjoyed it!

thanks mattq, appreciate it. I just think the fact that Ange has tried something out of left field has made him a bit of a scapegoat.
The formation works! Ten thoughts following Socceroos' victory in Adelaide
Can’t disagree with much of that, although I still think that 3 at the back has its place against better sides, tweaks will have to be made so that the two wide players are more defensive than as normal.

Have to agree with Pablo here, just because certain things are done overseas does not mean they are something to be admired or copied.

Go watch a replay of Barcelona 1-2 Celtic when the Bhoys won at the Nou Camp with 16% possession, and you’ll see what he means.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
Hi, Me Too,
Just found some very recent examples of games like these being irrelevant.
– Spain losing away to Slovakia
– Germany losing away to Poland and only taking one point from two points against Ireland
Both sides are sitting pretty at the top of their qualifying groups.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
True but that was Mooy’s first real challenge in green and gold (at least in qualifiers) and though it wasn’t his fault entirely, he failed to deliver. He’s performed well against in the other games but I don’t see why Luongo or McKay weren’t trusted as a 6. Looks like Ange tried too hard to fit everybody in.

Perth’s Glory days are over* ?
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
I agree entirely, a recent example would be Iceland beating Holland 3-0 but they’re really struggling lately! In regards to us now being genuine contenders that doesn’t mean we should be winning by a cricket score every game! Setbacks happen.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
Agreed, but I’d say that Mooy bore far too much creative responsibility and it showed by how many time he lost possession.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
Sorry, what I meant was that this was the most difficult game of our second qualifying round group. I am not excusing the poor performance or the mistakes which you correctly mention.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
Cheers Fuss, if there was one game we were going to lose it was this one. Can’t afford anymore slip ups, at least not in this round.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
I think we really really missed Sainsbury in a game like that, he and Spira are excellent together.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
The national disgrace thing was an exaggeration. I’m frustrated by the utter shock when we lose one game in a difficult atmosphere, its all been seen before.
