Can we run that by some of his captains and selectors?

Yeah but Carey didn’t get the opportunity to bat against his own bowlers! 😱

James Pattinson is charging, Marcus Stoinis is flagging and Alex Carey's been anointed

Who’d be a bowler. 😡

That’s true what you say re not picking second stringers but if the 1st choice test attack is not involved in the T20 world cup them there will be shield going on and that will likely be a better hit out for the test attack rather than what will likely be a 3 day test (at best) against Afghanistan. And by saying that I’ve just shortened the odds of an Afghan win massively!

I thought Carey might have got a batting spot in South Africa if we’d gone. We’ll never know.

With 6 home tests scheduled for next year, rotation either planned or forced upon the bowlers by injury was always likely. If the Afghanistan test goes ahead maybe it’s an opportunity to field an almost “A” team attack of Pattinson, Richardson, Neser and Swepson. Only 2 new caps need to be handed out and it might appease the “Anyone but a Blue” crowd on here! 😂

Bryce Street's defensive batting style could translate to Tests

I agree matth, tire the bowling attack out, Marnus said it was hard batting out there, despite what you read from some of the pundits on here NSW didn’t bowl badly at all, an innings run rate of 2.6 shows that. Tremendous performance from Queensland, a thoroughly deserved win. 👍

Nice!

Ball of the century? English spinner wows with Warnie-esque jaffa

Lyon and Swepson have had great SS results and it’s been gratifying to see spinners rise to the fore in Aus where it’s generally all about pace. But I think it’s a given that they will both perform well in the final so it’s more about how the opposing batting line ups handle the threat. They can both bowl long spells at a miserly run rate so seeing them off is not an option, I think it will be about keeping the scoreboard ticking over without losing wickets and with NSW missing Smith, Warner and Henriques I feel Queensland may be better equipped. And it pains me to say that as dyed in the wool Blues fan. 😢 A lot of pressure on Sean Abbott to have a big game for us.

Lyon and Swepson the keys in Shield final

Yeah, I reckon they might.

Blues look to deny WA back-to-back one-day titles

One down, one to go!

(Maybe) 😊

Blues look to deny WA back-to-back one-day titles

It’s well documented that he got some technique tweaking from Matthew Maynard (IIRC) during his county stint. It makes me wonder why our coaches including our national coach didn’t spot the issues and deal with them. Maybe there’s others who would benefit? But jeez, we need him to keep going, test quality batsmen aren’t queuing up for a go! (I still reckon he should bowl more too!)

Two years ago today, Marnus Labuschagne changed forever

Yep and I’ll repeat myself here Peter; How about some blame for the batsmen underperforming? Wade, Harris, Burns, Head and Warner all averaged below 22 for the series. But of course it’s always the bowlers fault.

Absolutely this is what I was getting at.
2005 ashes? I’d never seen that amount of swing at that pace besides Akram who was a freak.

I like Geoff Lemon and read most of what he puts out there, but *If* it had happened previously then it does not have to have been in a test match, Warner may have been mucking around in the nets with it, he also knew he was being watched and provoked by the South Africans both on and off the field as it would be more than likely he would react badly and do something dumb. Which he certainly obliged them with. Daniel Brettig in his book talks about the suspicion on previous tours by SA that A B DeVilliers had some rough patches on the palms of his keeping gloves which “might” have been used to rough up the ball. Some of the tours around when SA were at their peak there ability in Aus to get the Kookaburra to swing were impressive to say the least when our guys were getting nothing at the time I just put it down to a superior skill set but who knows?
