I don’t get the point of recalling Khawaja in the squad if he wasn’t gonna play. Love Usman but if he wasn’t a certain starter in the XI, then Maddinson would’ve been better off in the squad

BREAKING: Starc survives, Head edges Khawaja as Australian Ashes XI revealed

This will be the new normal re finding if teammates are close contacts or not. As long as there are no close contacts, play on.

Shield plays on after positive COVID case

Gonna be weird for Mitchell and Stoinis to face off each other in a grand game like this. Both played for Scarborough together when Mitchell lived in WA and I think Langer was playing as well at that time.

Kiwis unfazed by underdog tag in World Cup final

Stead’s decision to choose Mark Chapman over Munro looking even better now……….

Black Caps star out of World Cup final with broken hand

So Mason Crane who averages over 41 with the ball in FC cricket is being taken to the Lions squad over Amar Virdi (119 FC wickets at 29.55 and helped Surrey win the 2018 CC). Great way of showing faith to performing spinners by the ECB selectors

The England Lions squad is far more interesting than the England Ashes squad

Netherlands 2014 was the best performance by an associate nation in T20 WC. Scary to think had they held their nerve vs SA and NZ, they would’ve played semis. Afghanistan 2016 had a great bowling attack, but nothing much with the bat bar Mohammad Shahzad

Five memorable Associate victories at the T20 World Cup

The first player I looked for in the England squad was Parkinson. Not there? England don’t have a chance of taking 20 wickets in every test. There will be this pre notion that the Gabba can be breached again but this time they’ll be playing it on a pre Christmas wicket – much different to a post Christmas Gabba wicket. No express bowler bar Wood. Their only chance is in Adelaide where Anderson and Broad can exploit the Aussie lineup against quality swing bowling. Not putting a score line prediction, but Dom Bess’ pies to bowl Travis Head back into Test form this series.

'Premonition of doom': England reacts to Ashes squad, Stokes in frame for shock late call up

I think it’s as simple as this for the Storm – attack Cleary non stop. He doesn’t have the tactical nous of Cooper Cronk yet to coach his boys to victory like Cronk did in 2018 GF. Cleary clearly isn’t at 100% match fitness and Bellamy will know to exploit that hard. Hughes MOTM performance today. Cmon the Storm

JAMIE SOWARD: The pressure imbalance and key battles that will decide Penrith vs Storm

During kickoff for PF number 2, it’ll be 27 degrees in Brisbane. Add the humidity levels you get in QLD and this sets up as a recipe for disaster for the Penrith bodies. They could well easily lose the plot in the first 20 and struggle to find a way back into the game. Cmon the Storm

The Roar’s NRL expert tips and predictions: Preliminary finals

Politics: Maybe he has upset someone internally. He got kicked out of the 2015 WC squad after breaking team curfew in Brisbane. But bar that, he’s had a clean record. Part of me feels he’s still being punished for that.

Press: Idk why they aren’t honestly. For all the hype the Fizz gets with his cutters on slower wickets, Al Amin has done well for Bangladesh on all surfaces. If Hossain was backed properly from his debut, he’d have over 75 T20I wickets by now

Al-Amin Hossain’s exclusion from Bangladesh's T20 squad is nothing short of a farce

I’d have dropped both Taskin and Rubel. Their averages are way too high for T20 internationals considering they aren’t consistent wicket takers and leak quite a few runs. Al Amin would come in and another bloke called Shohidul Islam as the travelling reserve seamer. 54 wickets in 37 T20s at an average under 19 and SR of 14. Can bat a bit and is a good death bowler. But our brain dead selectors don’t know how to differentiate formats and put specialists in.

Come next years t20 wc, Al Amin has to come down under. Would be the most threatening seamer in Australia, even more than the Fizz.

Al-Amin Hossain’s exclusion from Bangladesh's T20 squad is nothing short of a farce

India have won their last seven T20 series under Kohli’s captaincy. Never lost a T20 series in SENA and bar a home series loss to Australia in 2019, I don’t remember India losing another T20 series under him (2 or more matches not one off games. Kohli has carried this Indian T20 side in the last two t20 world cups while the rest including Rohit were bang average. India can win the World Cup but I have a feeling West Indies will defend their crown

Virat Kohli's captaincy dilemma

Great win and now I can enjoy my mid sem break by watching non storm games. Titans v roosters gonna be a cracker. Absolutely ruthless from Melbourne today and got into the skin of the manly players

'They're in the business of taking souls': Talking points from the Storm’s crushing win over Manly

Been following them since the Ryobi one day cup. Fingers crossed we can get a game or two in NSW this season but I don’t see it happening with state border closures

Remembering NSW's recent one day titles: 2021 Marsh Cup

Bumrah. Bloody hell how good is he? Outstanding spell of reverse swing from him last night on a flat wicket. Kohli was criticised a lot for saying Jadeja would be a dangerous customer with the rough in play during the toss. I would play Jadeja at 5 as a frontline batsman, get Ashwin to bat at 6 over Rahane and this left arm seamer called Arzan Nagaswalla who’s travelling as a net bowler to debut and give Siraj a breather.

England collapse to Test defeat by India

Baba dashing style – De Kock does the same thing for South Africa in Test cricket but he never gets attacked for it even if he makes the same mistakes. No keeper batsman since Dinesh Karthik has dominated Ranji Trophy the way Pant has. Despite a poor series, Pant averages a shade under 40 in Test cricket which is still acceptable. You just seem very salty that Pant may overtake MSD’s legacy in Test cricket when he finishes his Test career. Which he will – something I’ve said since 2018 and I will stick to that opinion.
And as for Karun – he would’ve been a good player had he been backed properly but how can a Kannada be backed when an underperforming Mumbaikar is vice captain who continues to be backed by the Mumbai lobby.

England aiming for a miracle in intriguing Test battle with India

Jack Edwards is someone I rate highly in 50 over cricket. Looks in control when batting in 50 over cricket. I think he will step up with many NSW players off to IPL in the Marsh Cup this year. Has to open with Dan Hughes or bat at 3. Him and Ollie Davies will have long List A careers for NSW and need the exposure

Remembering NSW's recent one day titles: 2021 Marsh Cup

Won India BGT, smacked a ton at Ahmedabad to bat England out of the game. Pant has been superb with the gloves this series which is his main job. Yes he’s been poor with his shot selection but to drop a keeper after 2-3 Tests for who? Saha who’s at best a number 8 with the bat and reflexes not as good anymore? I’m a big Bengal fan but Saha’s Test career is over and only KS Bharat is close to being Pants understudy.

England aiming for a miracle in intriguing Test battle with India

I was impressed that Pant stuck it out after a string of single digit scores. Can’t believe there were calls for him to get dropped considering how good his keeping been this series. Thakur always been a handy bat. Hit 6 sixes in an over in a club or age group game in Mumbai. From what I’ve heard amongst Mumbai cricketing circles, he was viewed as a pinch hitter rather than a proper eight at first. India can genuinely convert him into a batting all rounder who bats at 7.

England aiming for a miracle in intriguing Test battle with India

Rohit is the best Test opener in the world right now and the performances back it up. Scoring runs for fun at home and did a decent job overseas where he just needed to convert starts. Did it last night. Most dominant Test opener India have had since Sehwag

Rohit Sharma's Test ton lifts India against England

It was such a strong NSW team that they had won the mental battles before each game. Starc averaged less than 9 and a SR of under 15 balls. Absolute class against the domestic batsmen. My one regret is that due to circumstances I couldn’t attend the final or else that would’ve been a great day out as a young teen.

Remembering NSW's recent one-day titles: 2015 Matador Cup

Great piece Paul. Back in my high school days aka not so long ago, when I played against schools from the Shire, they were very aggressive with their field placements. Used to time a few well but went straight to the fielders. Would have to think outside of the box to get off the mark. Sometimes I feel international cricket misses that

Why aren’t old-fashioned fielding positions used anymore?

People rave on SKY and he’s a good player. But one player who I want in the Indian Test squad at all times from the NZ series onwards is Baba Indrajith. Probably the best batsman I’ve seen come out of Tamil Nadu since Subramaniam Badrinath who was robbed of a Test career because Dhoni kept on persisting with Raina and Yuvraj who were average in Test cricket. The same can’t be done to Indrajith

Batting failures in England: India keeps doing the same thing and achieving the same result

I feel Blackcaps shot themselves by not having latham and nicholls in the top 3/4. They’re the two best blackcaps batsmen in this lineup so they needed to take responsibility. Pocknall saying NZ were 20-25 runs away from making it challenging is rubbish imo. Bangladesh batted in first gear with no scoreboard pressure. Tomorrow we should get a better game imo

Bangladesh earns maiden T20 win over NZ

Yep even without Tamim Bangladesh are a strong white ball side at home. Rumours and reports that the pitch tonight will be very similar to the ones used vs Australia. That could backfire with Latham and Nicholls in the NZ lineup.

Ravindra an interesting one. Do the New Zealand selectors view him as a genuine all rounder or a batsman who can bowl off spin?
