I feel Ali bats better on slower pitches so he’ll be a solid shout at 4 just for this test at southampton. His record there is too good to be ignored and like i mentioned, slower pitches can be the norm in this series since Windies have a lot of pace bowlers

The key battles that will decide the England-West Indies series

A betoota article on the roar ???? who would’ve thought

Alarm bells ring as Wests Tigers enter the top eight

All good players but two questions for me – no proper opener to partner Warner. No opener keeps in Tests so Elgar, Latham or even Karunaratne would’ve been a better option to open. Most likely Stokes out of that top seven to accommodate De Kock’s keeping down the order. Secondly – no spinner and five quicks? You always need a spinner in Test cricket. Lyon, Maharaj and Jadeja all decent shouts to take the spinner’s role.

The current world's best Test XI

Okay yep then he’s retired maybe cricinfo just didn’t report on it then. The spin trio of razzak, rafique and shakib in 2007 wc was key in our victories against India and South Africa

The best ODI XI of players who retired in the 21st century

Yeah so did a bit of quick digging on cricinfo. No article on abdur razzak retiring from any format he’s still avaiable for selection.

The best ODI XI of players who retired in the 21st century

Razzak hasn’t retired from internationals yet. Made a comeback into the Test team in 2018 as well but a solid 11 nonetheless

The best ODI XI of players who retired in the 21st century

Loved the article. I remember doing apartheid South Africa as one of my topics for HSC modern history last year. Even my teacher was surprised when I told her about the D’Oliveira incident.

A cricket team of exotic names

West Indies have taken a 25 man squad for their tour of England. I would’ve chosen a 16 man squad but bc of covid I chose a 20 man squad.

My India Test squad for the tour Down Under

No Dhawan, Pant or Jadeja for me otherwise you got it spot on. Manish Pandey too good to be left out. Krunal Pandya over Jadeja and Dinesh Karthik over Pant. Dhawan too conservative in T20 cricket and averages 10.5 in T20 World Cups. Pant too hit and miss for T20Is right now. Jadeja has a career T20I strike rate lower than 105. Not good enough as an all-rounder.

Playing XI for India for me – Rahul, Rohit, Kohli, Iyer, Karthik, Pandya brothers, Kumar, Chahal, Kuldeep and Bumrah

Backups – Shankar, Pandey, Shami, Saini

Who should be in India's squad for the T20 World Cup?

A few disagreements but hey we’re allowed to have different opinions

Best XI IMO – Kamran Akmal, Sharjeel, Babar (c), Malik, Sarfaraz (wk), Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab, Faheem, Amir, Shaheen, Rauf

Reserves – Khusdil Shah, Hasnain, Riaz, Imad Wasim

Who should be in Pakistan's squad for the T20 World Cup?

I reckon Bangladesh should tour during February. Bangladesh has their domestic comps between September-January. The wickets in February are slightly slower meaning the spinners come more into play. Considering AFL doesn’t start till March or so, why not play a game or two at Spotless Stadium? Olympic Park is accessible through public transport meaning Bangladesh and Australian fans get to see a game in Sydney. The pitches there are quite slow and low which suits Bangladesh. And with a seating capacity of 25k, you’d get close to a packed house for the limited-overs matches.

Firstly, hope you’re enjoying Cox’s Bazaar. For those who don’t know, Cox’s Bazaar holds the longest sea beach around 150km or so. The cities of Cox’s Bazaar and Chattogram (formerly known as Chittagong) are similar to Australian cities as to the fact that they’re both coastal cities.

Yeah regarding the WTC, I hope so to be honest. Got Blackcaps, Sri Lanka, Windies, Australia at home. Windies we’ll beat. Sri Lanka is meh depends on which Sri Lanka turns up. Blackcaps I’m worried considering how well they adapt to subcontinent nowadays. Australia – depends what squad they pick and who goes partnering Lyon.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

I can’t say official figures in Australia since I don’t know. But in Sydney we’ve got around roughly 40,000 or so within the Sydney Bangladesh community.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

Five wicket hauls in South Africa and England. Two centuries in New Zealand. Yet Shakib Al Hasan will possibly never play a Test in Australia. Tamim Iqbal has bossed New Zealand and England. Will likely never play a Test in Australia.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

Absolutely. And Ireland has some fantastic players who’ll do well in Test cricket. Tim Murtagh and Kevin O’Brien already stamped themselves in Test cricket. But they need chances. Even if it is a precursor to touring England, would love to see teams play Ireland in a one-off Test or two-Test series before they play England. Brilliant exposure for Ireland as to how they would go against the big boys and touring teams get stiff competition when acclimatising to the British Isles.

As for the Big three, only India has shown any respect towards us in the recent few years having toured there twice since 2016.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

Yeah, Canberra seems a perfect spot for Bangladesh to play a Test. When Bangladesh played Afghanistan at Manuka in 2015 WC, many people from Western Sydney drove 2-2.5 hours to see the Tigers play. If not SCG, would love to see an ODI at Spotless Stadium. Slow pitch with spinners at the forefront = conditions suiting Bangladesh. Two other players that have potential of doing very well in Test cricket – Nayeem Hasan and Mossadek Hossain. Hasan is a tall off-spinner and his bowling style is similar to Lyon (has even said his bowling hero is Lyon). Hossain averages 57 in FC cricket yet has only played 3 Tests (average of 41). Deserves a run in the long-term to see if he belongs in Test cricket

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

If CA really connected with the Bangladesh community in Australia, they would know by now how desperate they are to see the Tigers play Down Under. I love watching India tour here but I’m starting to get tired of that as are many Bengalis. Sometimes money needs to be put aside for the sake of the game but don’t see CA doing that.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

India’s started to give us a few tours recently so they’re a pass mark for me at the moment. England – we haven’t toured there since 2010. I really do feel for Afghanistan and realistically, they’ll get bundled in two days.

Cricket Australia's treatment of Bangladesh is an insult

Faf hasn’t retired from Test cricket although he has quit captaincy. Wade hasn’t convinced me since his return despite those two quality tons in England. Patterson came back from injury and had a poor season. But his efforts for New South Wales in 2018-19 were a lot better and to only get two tests was questionable considering he did nothing wrong. BJ Watling – yes you could go with Quinton De Kock but it was a 50/50 really. Could go either way.

A Rest of the World team to tackle Australia

Wood and Shakib have never played a test on our shores. Root has never scored a century in Australia. Elgar averages 23 in Australia. Take out his 127 at the WACA a few years ago and it goes down to 5.67. Way too low to be considered. Azam averages 27.8 in Australia despite his significant improvement.

A Rest of the World team to tackle Australia

Top four – Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (backup keeper), Kohli(c), Shreyas Iyer
5. Karthik (wk)
6 and 7. Pandya brothers
Bowlers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal

Rest of India T20 WC squad – Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Navdeep Saini, Mohammad Shami

Top four is settled and will remain that way. Karthik can play both anchor and finishers role. Hardik and Krunal Pandya both strike it over 130 in T20 internationals. Bowlers are settled as well on the combination India want to play.

I’ve gone with Vijay Shankar over Shivam Dube as my second seam-bowling all-rounder. New Zealand peppered Dube this year with short balls, and he was struggling for timing. Shankar plays the short ball better and the bounce on offer on Aussie pitches, he will do a better job if he gets a game. Manish Pandey will be my backup top four batsman. Should say one of the top four players drop form or gets injured, Pandey can slot in. Mohammad Shami and Navdeep Saini are the backup quicks and should India want a third specialist seamer over Kuldeep or Chahal; they’ll still have Krunal Pandya to play as a second spinner.

I haven’t gone with Shikhar Dhawan for two reasons. One is that India needs someone to go all guns blazing from ball one and KL Rahul’s T20I record shows that he is more than capable of doing that. Two – Dhawan has scored 74 runs in 7 innings in T20 WC with an average of 10.5 and strike rate of 83. To be blunt – nowhere near good enough.

Also excluded Jadeja. While a fantastic fielder, Krunal Pandya outshines him as the spinning all-rounder. Jadeja’s T20I strike rate is only 101.76. Even when batting at number 7, that’s poor.

India's forgotten man who can win them the T20 World Cup

Correction on Jadeja. His strike rate in that time was 131 not 161*

India's forgotten man who can win them the T20 World Cup

Great read enjoyed it. The shopno of seeing the Iqbal brothers opening in a test together may have never happened but we could possibly see their sons play together which would be a dream come true for Bangladesh fans. Important that if it does happen media should not lose their mind over it and treat it normally

The top families in Bangladesh cricket

The washout vs New Zealand cost them more IMO. After being bowled out for 150 odd in the warm-up, Kiwi bowlers were the only team who tested India’s top four. Loss of Shikhar Dhawan after this game cost them massively as KL Rahul had minimal experience as an opener in ODI cricket then. Not knowing who their number four was even worse. After Vijay Shankar was injured India brought in the uncapped Mayank Agarwal over the in-form Shreyas Iyer who had done well in ODI cricket in limited opportunities till then. Playing three keepers over a specialist batsman in Kedar Jadhav for the semi was a massive gamble and shock.

2019 Cricket World Cup rewind: India vs Australia

Yeah Coulter Nile was class with the bat. Could also be argued that when Stoinis was injured, he could’ve played the all-rounders role instead of Maxwell being tasked with bowling 10 overs as the fifth bowler
