I am a huge fan of Cricket and Football (Soccer). I am a huge fan of Manchester United and I love my great state of Victoria in the cricket. I am a bit of a traditionalist and I love my Test cricket much more than my ODI and T20 cricket. If pushed the Stars are the team to go for. Happy reading!

People would notice no drop-in pitch in Melbourne, as it might actually do something

Sydney AFL Ground? SCG considering moving to drop-in pitches

They always send the Sheffield Shield off to North Sydney, how about sending the Swans and AFL of there for a bit, give them some of their own

Great article!
As a 16 year old I love test cricket and I love the mini battles and the mental challenge it brings. I think that when kids get to teenagedom they begin to demand everything now. I have noticed this amongst many people my age who will only watch T20 because it has lots of 6’s. It is disappointing, but it is to do with money and the need to not stress ones brain to much to analyse the game. Great article and let us hope that kids learn to love Test Cricket once more!

Are kids really bored by Test cricket?

Thanks Mary, I am aware of these things, but I am sorry for what my friend said, I have taken steps to prevent this happening and I heavily edited his comment to reduce the amount of personal criticism towards you.
Whilst I too do not agree with everything you say, I will not stand for a blatant attack on you, my apologies and thanks for your time!

By sacking Israel Folau, Rugby Australia showed what true leadership looks like

I try really hard to see your point of view on your articles Mary but Israel Folau is entitled to his opinion and religion and if Rugby Australia can’t see that then they need to change and tolerate people like Folau, that would add diversity to the team by having people from both sides

It is ironic, this is certainly a point which needs to be addressed, surely at Melbourne you would not be able to have a drinks break due to the amount of time to get on/off after a wicket. Smaller grounds might squeeze it in, but I certainly agree with your remarks, it is a good point

WOW, I never expected this to be so successful thanks guys!

It makes sense to see the bowlers getting a drink down at fine leg after an over because it is their own doing and it doesn’t delay the game, but it is important for the batting team to get this tactic cut out.
I can also remember one test match a while ago, were there was 5 helmets lined up behind Brad Haddin. This speeds up the process of chucking in an extra man in close. Though you do see them using helmets always if they are going in and out and they do wear the pads etc. in the field.

Thanks Paul!
I believe that the current time an over should take is on average about 3 minutes, but we know with pace bowlers it is about 4-5 and spinners can be as low as 1 minute. But I agree with the gloves comment to, the amount of times they change gloves and bats is pretty ridiculous.

Bang on, I figure we should use the current enforcements before any changes placing further strain on umpires etc. are brought in.
Seeing as most player in the modern game, bar some players like Sir Alistair Cook, try to get multi-million dollar T20 deals, surely you can just fine them because that will hurt the most or just ban them more often.

Paine in one-dayers is as useful as t*ts on a bull.

If Finch fails again, Paine should take back the ODI captaincy

However, the umpires do not police it as well as they should. I think they really should have increased the policing before changes

The main problem I had was with the free hit, no doubt if they had of called no-balls often then it may not happen, but I feel that the free hits are just free runs.

One would think the ICC would step in as they are all about the “Expansion of the Game” which is only if it involved T20 or India.

Insane ODI fixturing has cruelled Australia

Surely CA has enough money to at least let the smaller teams play a bigger nation like Australia. Look at the BBL, we have so many young sub-continent players who will never play an international here because its not viable

Insane ODI fixturing has cruelled Australia

Disgusting from CA! How on earth have we not played New Zealand when they are the closest team to us? We should be playing them a lot more! Disgusting money grab from CA, so much for them helping smaller nations, bailing on Bangladesh as well!

Insane ODI fixturing has cruelled Australia

Dont forget young Harry Nielsen for SA. Only 23, he has had solid performances against India and England in touring matches

The Carey conundrum

You are a very ignorant person it would seem, Tim Paine has 20 more dismissals than Wade does in 1 less test, and Tim Paine averages 35 in test cricket, which is second to only Adam Gilchrist, which is remarkable, when we consider Wade, Neville and Haddin who average 28, 22 and 32, Paine is our second best keeper batting wise, and by far the best gloveman, Why do you say Paine shouldn’t be captain when he has performed admirably as both keeper and captain.

So I would be interested in hearing your replacement captain and keeper.

A golden opportunity: Don't pick Smith and Warner

Peter, how many days of test cricket were played?
3 & 4 respectively, Paine knew he had lots of time and he could have taken much longer if he wanted.
Besides, I recall Steven Smith scored a century of 300 balls, which by your reckoning, isn’t good enough

Put Tim Paine in the Order of Australia, but not the Ashes squad

Its unfair they dont get to play Shield, which is CA’s fault for dragging the BBL out, They should be given some shield time, but I dont think CA can view it as important as the BBL. But if they go out and score lots of runs and take wickets then sure that can be in the equation, but so to must be the duke situation to a certain degree

The Dukes ball has made Ashes selections a whole lot easier

I certainly did, in fact I thought Paine played both matches until I checked my facts and saw he didnt, Chris has got it bang on!

The Dukes ball has made Ashes selections a whole lot easier

Thanks very much Chris!

But if such stats are true, then in a theoretical sense, by introducing these medical supports, they have actually increased the number of injuries suffered.
My rationale is that if bowlers are being rested more, then there is more injuries per game played then there was in the 90’s.

CA's injury prevention approach is clearly not working

Yes Please!!
One would think that if Labuschange and Head bowl about 2 overs a test match then surely Renshaw can fill the void that would be created if we don’t have our beloved All-Rounder!
I mean, you would be better of picking Matthew Wade and bowling him as your all-rounder, or really anyone who bats and can get the ball down the pitch

The Dukes ball has made Ashes selections a whole lot easier

Isnt it fair to discriminate on that basis?
If I cant bat to save my life against a swinging duke, but can score big in the BBL, I dont think I deserve to be selected. England will have green, seaming decks, and if I cant deal with a swinging duke in Australia I sure as heck wont in England
