JD needs to go ASAP if they want to salvage part of the Year. He cant control Latrell. The only person who can get the best out of him (but it still won’t be the best he could do) is Wayne and he is not available till next year. If Wayne does not take the job next year they need to manage Latrell out ASAP.

PNG & NZ2 will create their own juniors with some pathways organisation from the NRL. With the USA there are so many fantastic athletes that don’t make it into College Gridiron let alone the NFL. We need a combine that gets them earlier. Have one for high school graduates. If they don’t make it into College they can come out here and we will put them through Uni. That way we get them earlier at say 18.. and they have a better chance of developing the skills. That will help with the expansion. later they can form the nucleus of a North American comp.

We need to do Simple things first … get home base sorted… NZ Team in South Island… Gosford Bears … move Tigers to Perth.. Western Tigers.. plus one new Team (PNG?) to make 20. Bring it forward a year and negotiate an increase in TV Deal. Get on the Board of English Rugby League.. Then concentrate on Pathways and expanding lower division clubs. Rekindle Country rugby League. The Private Schools have introduced AFL.. Soccer etc etc. Introduce League into the Private Schools.

Set up the ADRU Australian Domestic Rugby Union to control the game below Super Rugby including the schools, INDEPENDENT of the ARU and play under different rules. In days gone by Australia led the way in innovative practices and Rule change eg limiting the kick out on the full to the 22m line, hooker only throwing the ball into the line out etc. We need to do something as doing nothing is so much worse.

Piru… where Private schools used to go to Z grade.. with the advent of the scholarship wars for League players in year 7 parents have moved their kids away from rugby as the A grade is full of scholarships.. there are the odd school exceptions but these schools are more soccer schools now then Rugby. Plus AFL and Basketball. in terms of junior clubs that was not my experience in the east of Sydney, but your area may be thriving.

All of this is irrelevant. Why would you centralise and put yourself in the hands of the MisManagement Team at the ARU.. Really.. is everyone suffering from Alzheimers? But besides all this the game is dying at its foundations. Kids are not playing it in schools or local clubs and people are not watching. The reason as well all know is the coaches in the northern hemisphere have gamed the rules and slowed it down so big men can play as they have created so many stoppages and so much referee interference. It is boring to watch and play. We don’t have the guts in Australia to massively change the rules to restore continuity. As a matter of fact it will only get worse rapidly with the change of the tackle height and increased referee interference as a result.

Delusional… The changes to the Rules needed are MASSIVE.. couple of tweaks will not slow the decline.

Lowering the Tackle height will only invite more interference from the referees and make it even more boring to watch than it is now. Unless you are prepared to make sweeping rule changes to speed up the game and massively restore continuity and remove TMO and referee interference the game will leap further toward Death in Australia. The other countries WONT take the lead. Australia must. Do it for the domestic and schools competitions to start.

This is a reaction to the increase in concussions due to the increased size of the players caused by the slowness of the game and the many interruptions. Since going professional the coaches have gamed the rules to get bigger and bigger players, so much so, that they are now playing with another forward pack on the bench. Change the rules to restore continuity.. speed up the game and hence reduce the player size and the problem is solved. This band aid will only turn players off the game and slow the game down more because of increased referee interference.

The Shame is the state of the game after 20 years of mismanagement. Centralisation into this MisManagement Team with a history of Failure is another MASSIVE MISTAKE. Don’t do it. Unfortunately fundamentally the Rules have not tried to keep pace with Professionalism and the coaches Gaming them. We now have a ponderous and slow game with long breaks throughout with games won on penalty kicks and Referee interference. Australians want continuity and athleticism resulting in Tries. That is why it is dying. Unless the RA board is prepared to lead the way and modify the rules at least for internal use.. then they are wasting everyone’s time.

This shows what we have know for 20 years. we saw a symptom last night. The Disease is the ARU board and how they are able to stay in control despite decades on incompetence. We need an extremely broad electoral base for the ARU that takes in the grassroots. We need this board and their managers gone in their entirety.
