The other Australian fullbacks and wingers must have been horrible for Joe Tomane and Mogg to make the team of the week. I only watched the Reds v Brumbies this weekend and didn’t even notice they were on the field for most of the game. Then again none of the Reds back three (or four if you include Quade who spent most of the game back there) did much either.

Super Rugby Round 9: Aussie team of the week

Is anyone really surprised about Shaun Marsh? – he played all three formats for Australia in the last 24 months. Finch is more surprising for me considering he is a t20 player and a sometime ODI player depending on who is tired. Disappointed Siddle is still in the running, as a test only player who is clearly out of form and down on pace. He is one of those players that should be on pay for play deal.

One keeper is more interesting then only one spinner, obviously room here for someone to usurp Haddin in the next 12 months but the selectors and CA are leaving their options open. Wade will be very disappointed that he is no longer clearly the number 2 in the selectors minds.

Looked more like boof was having a whinge about Duminy’s negative bowling probably ripping into the match referee about the umpires not doing something about it.

South Africa vs Australia live: Third Test, Day Four live scores, blog

I dont see Maxwell making the test unless it is to replace Smith, we currently aren’t looking to do this. He may find his way into the squad at the expense of Henriques/Faulkner. I am hoping Pakistan will see Boyce or Zampa making their test debut, but the selectors will probably take Holland/O’Keefe. Copeland or Hazlewood might get call up to bowl long spells. Marsh you would think would definitely tour with his runs in India, Sri Lanka showing him to be good on slow tracks. Doolan I would think would be in the tour squad as well.

Squad for Pakistan – Rogers, Warner, Watson, Marsh, Clarke, Smith, Haddin, Johnson, Boyce, Lyon, Bird. – Hughes, Doolan, Maxwell, Paine, Copeland, Harris.

Glenn Maxwell close to Test recall

We don’t have a bowler in the test team that can bowl traditional swing so why would they be able to master the more difficult version of swing bowling. If Australia picked a proper swing bowler, we would have someone who can reverse it when the environmental factors and ball line-up. Otherwise we have Watson who doesn’t quite have the speed to be super dangerous reversing the ball but hell he is better than nothing.

Why can't the Aussie bowlers master reverse swing?

doesn’t look that injured, just looks tired, pretty puffed just before tea.

….and he is called up.

Shaun Marsh not expecting dream recall

The question is, is he really depriving Zampa of first class cricket? Zampa has played a fair bit this season and Botha plays no matter the conditions in an allrounder capacity. I think the games Zampa has missed this season he still would have missed, with a fast bowler taking that spot in the team.

Should Sheffield Shield teams field foreign players?

This is silly. The selectors have a job to do and while White has been in some good form he was close to being dropped from Victoria at the end of last year. He like Doolan and Cowan put in a few good performances and the selectors ears pricked up a bit. No one absolutely no one in the domestic competition is putting their hand up year in year out, other than Phil Hughes who has been found wanting at Test level and needs to play well for the rest of this year and the start of next to replace Rogers in the line-up. With no one putting forward consistent form over a sustained period of time the selectors must look at a different criteria. Players who look to have the technique to succeed at the next level. I don’t think many can disagree that Marsh is one of the better technical batsmen in the country. I haven’t seen much of Doolan but from all reports he either looks great at the crease or is all over the shop. I am sure the selectors were tempted to go with Marcus North who has really put his hand up at the top of the order for WA but he was also a player who was lucky to be in the WA outfit this year with injuries to some of the WA players. Cameron White you would think would still be well down the list for selection for Australia, he has obvious flaws in his technique, he is cumbersome in the field and is not willing to give it his all. all the time.

How did Marsh get picked over White?

Could mean the selectors are looking to move Clarke back to 5 and Smith to 6 or we could see Haddin move up the order to six and Faulkner into the team to bat 7. I guess we will get a clearer picture after the tour match but it looks like a squad that gives them options rather than locking them into an 11+4. Marsh may be given and opportunity at 6 he has the game to take the game away form the opposition and hopefully he has sorted out where his off stump is. I personally don’t really rate Doolan seems like a selection because a former great started talking him up (Ponting) and will probably be a Beer, McGain like mistake (thank you Warnie)

Bailey dropped for South Africa tour: Marsh, Pattinson, Bird recalled

Lyon to bowl before Siddle that’s the only prediction I will make.

Yeah he had that out in the last game apparently they have been re-released. Tim Paine has one as well.

If the pitch was not so green would Root have played as the all rounder instead of Stokes. I am little surprised they dropped Root when they are debuting a legspinner,

Big chance of being dropped but the contenders to take his spot are Hughes – tried multiple times, North – tried and found wanting, old but possibly due a recall, Doolan – undeserving of being in the squad currently, White – didn’t deserve to start the season in the Victorian Shield team but has scored some runs. Lynn – who could not get a start for Queensland at the start of the summer.

One of those mornings where Australia needed a hard graft opening partnership but Warner as only Warner can do gets out because of his poor technique but is celebrated for having a go.

Saturday morning. Don’t really mind what the score is but Australia need to bat into Saturday.

possible, particularly if it looks like the will lose a day’s worth of play with afternoon storms.

The changes to his technique looked good and he was much more patient at the crease than he has been in the past. He batted better than Warner for the majority of the session with Warner chasing a few that should have been left alone. Warner needs to kick on here but they both did a job. It’s just shame that the middle order doesn’t contain an experience run scorer like Hussey, where their first session protection would have been of greater benefit.

That’s kind of satisfying, a team of time wasters run out of time and light.

Might be because yet again, Siddle and Starc look like passengers out there with the ball in hand. Hopefully Watson is warming up too.

Moved up the order because he can’t play spin, but everyone forgets he can’t play the swinging ball either.

Because the mic picks up sound in general not sound off the bat, too many things make noise.

England vs Australia: 2013 Ashes 3rd Test cricket live scores, blog - Day 4

Snicko shows some noise but its not the usual high frequency noise of bat on ball. Since the sound is usually captured with the stump mic could easily be a stud ripping through the pitch.
