Folau was objectively a match winner. He’s still the highest try scorer in SR history and won a title with the Tahs and made it to the RWC final with the Wallabies.

I would argue that Tuqiri was also extremely good. Sailor and Rogers a little less successful but certainly not bad and not even close to the worst converts we’ve had.

'They desperately need it': Ex-Wallaby pushes Suaalii chase, RA's big worry as NRL star's links to rugby firm up

Its strategically sound if you ask me. Statistically, this is probably one of their lowest percentage games even with a full strength side.

So ticking off a large number of mandatory rest periods in a game that you are unlikely to win even if they start seems smart.

SRP Round 5 teams: Rebels lose key men, Tate benched, Brumbies rest FIVE Wallabies, Waratahs suffer injury crisis

We’ve all seen batting collapses before but have we seen them be quite so stupid?

Why are they sweeping on a pitch with no bounce – repeatedly. Even after seeing it fail three or four times they go in for more. Cummins first stroke has to win a prize for worst shot selection in history.

Eddie bloody Jones:
‘I’m not blaming the ref but it’s his fault’.
In a game where his team lost to one down to a red for 50 minutes. Couldn’t make it up lads.

Rennie to look at Swain 'challenge', Jones claims ref 'evened up' red card - Everything Dave and Eddie said post match

You can’t judge a single player on a win/loss record – just absurd. It’s a team game.

But yeah – Quade will start.

NZRU will never say ‘see ya’ because they have even less capacity to sustain a domestic comp than Australia.

'Hamish has thrown a hand grenade' - Turinui backs RA 'tribalism' but Horan fears impact of cutting ties with NZ

And yeah – most of their revenue is built on the back of the All Blacks. Which is great when the All Blacks are all conquering and their conveyor belt of talent is working perfectly – neither of which is the case right now.

'Hamish has thrown a hand grenade' - Turinui backs RA 'tribalism' but Horan fears impact of cutting ties with NZ

It’d be pretty devastating to both – lets be honest.

But lets not also be naive about the size of the respective markets. NZR is maxed out right now and with the sell off to private equity has limited its capacity to generate revenue in the future.

A proper Australian domestic comp built from scratch has far more potential than whatever frankensteinian SR model they cook up for the next few years.

‘Cut the belligerant public comments’… think that went out the window when you published a report which effectively recommended Australia cut three teams.

NZR earn a lot more and this feeds down into their SR teams.

Basically, Aus SR sides operate at half or less the budget of an NZ SR team.

At least get their names right.

WALLABIES SQUAD: Rennie names six new faces for England battle but leaves out big names in shock twist

Agree re Vunivalu but not Uelese over Lonergan. Lonergan was huge last night against the Blues – he’s the goods.

The Vunivalu pick I think really demonstrates our lack of strike power outside MK and Kerevi.

WALLABIES SQUAD: Rennie names six new faces for England battle but leaves out big names in shock twist

Fortunately RA only signed on for 2 years. One to go and then we can have a proper domestic comp.

COVID-ravaged Chiefs still dismantle Force with eight-try rout, but skipper hurt

I’ll take a break to the losing streak, even if we don’t win the series.

Eddie Jones plays down Wallabies whitewash chances

Not sure why someone who knows nothing about rugby is writing about rugby…

But yeah. Screw trying to poach league players who are overpriced and almost always underskilled for Union. For every success there are two expensive failures.

Just pump money into grass roots.

‘Absolutely nothing to worry about’: League shouldn’t fear union’s player raids

Its almost like they did exactly the same thing that failed last year and expected a different result.

REACTION: 'Really disappointing'- Trans-Tasman gulf remains a chasm as Reds choke and Hurricanes rip in

So are RA signed up for another round of this next year? Because – setting aside all other arguments – that crowd alone shows you how little interest there is in this format.

Collaring has always been foul play. Having been collared a few times i can tell you it hurts.

MATCH REPORT: 'Horrendous'! Rennie anger as 14-man Wallabies beaten at the death

And so it begins.

Rennie has done pretty bloody well with a limited group of players. Won the home tour and knocked off the RWC champions twice. Given where we were a few years ago i’ll take that.

MATCH REPORT: 'Horrendous'! Rennie anger as 14-man Wallabies beaten at the death

Perfect game for McReight. Squad choices have been found a little wanting this tour.

Slipper to lead Wallabies after Hooper ruled out

I don’t get this. Harrison is clearly far superior to Donaldson. Donaldson looks like a mid-table SR flyhalf at best. Harrison also has a way higher ceiling IMO.

But eh – the Tahs literally murder talent.

ANALYSIS: So little time to fix so many holes with RWC 2023 rushing at the Wallabies

‘World Class’ means players that would be selected in a world XV. You don’t need half the team to be the best in the world in their position at all. You need maybe 2-3 to make a great team and when everyone is fit and available we arguable have that in Tupou, Kerevi and Hooper.

The issue is the step down. We need good quality squad players. Not world class but capable of playing a match and executing their basic skills.

When we get a few injuries suddenly we have absolute chumps like KB (as much as i love him he’s been past it for years) and Wright starting for us.

ANALYSIS: So little time to fix so many holes with RWC 2023 rushing at the Wallabies

I think Blindside flanker is an area of strength. Both Swinton and Leota look strong there.

I’d actually argue wing is our weakest spot now that MK is gone. We have no threat on the wings at all. Wright is one of the worst Wallaby wingers i’ve ever had to watch.

ANALYSIS: So little time to fix so many holes with RWC 2023 rushing at the Wallabies

The weird thing is i don’t think SA are way ahead. Ireland? maybe. But otherwise i think just about every team in the world is inconsistent at the moment. No one showing particularly impressive form.

I think this is also positively correlated with a general decline in game management from referees. There are some real shockers plying that trade at the moment.

'Our fans deserve better': Everything Dave Rennie said after 'dumb' Wallabies 'strangled' by England

Im not sure what other selections there were to make? No one to come in at 10. Arguably Noah, but that’s a side-grade at best.

Otherwise its bottom of the barrel at 11, 12 and 15.

You could also argue that he shouldn’t have bothered with the European contingent – but i think he’s clearly decided to use this tour as a chance to see what they can do and whether its worth further loosening the rules to get them more involved. He has his answer now.
