I also read Demetriou complaining about the Bulldogs slowing down the ruck…he’s got to be just searching for a leg up next week. Souths were constantly holding the dogs down. Don’t believe me, play the ball speed Souths 3.29 v Dogs 3.93. you don’t have an average that fast if the other team is committing lots of ruck infringements, and you never get near 4 seconds unless the defence is holding down a lot. Didn’t need the stats though, was pretty clear in the game just from watching.

ANALYSIS: Sexton stars on debut as Dogs outscore Souths - but Demetriou claims Bunker 'manufactured' sin bin

Wow, Demetriou is claiming Milne didn’t deserve a sinbin! It was a direct and forceful shoulder to the head of a player who was then stretchered off. What a clown. I was expecting a send off myself. If that’s what the coach is talking about then Souths are no chance of winning the comp.

I have a question, does the review footage get shown on the screen at Headingley? I mean, could Stokes see himself getting plumb LBW while on 10 runs? If he could see that surely he’d have walked, it would be awful if England win the game because of it..I certainly wouldn’t want to win that way.
Also, I’m surprised the media haven’t made a bigger deal of it considering how many spirit of the game articles have been churned out lately.

Was looking hopeless but 19 runs off the 3rd last over meaning we need 31 off the last 2 overs.

Sorry..chase is 76 required from 34 balls.

Completely unrelated but why is there absolutely no coverage of the womens ashes? It’s absolutely not in the spirit of the game to have dozens of articles about a single ball in the men’s game but have nowhere to discuss the current T20 women’s match with Australia struggling in their chase, currently 5-108 but Perry is still at the crease. Shaping up as a tense finish and at a perfect time for us early risers.

“would I want to win a game in that manner? I think the answer for me is no.”
I think the short ball bowling barrage was much less in the spirit of the game. England tried to ruin the game and the umpires let them. How many byes were England given against us? Almost none in the first session on day 4 but Australia was hampered by the umpires stopping us bowl as consistently high by regularly calling wides for high balls.
Terrible cheating overall by England and it was a disgrace. Not at all in the spirit of the game.

Khawaja fuming over pavilion abuse as Stokes says he would've withdrawn appeal

Watching back the extended highlights, I certainly don’t think the English bowlers were that bad, our batters were just very patient and much smarter. We let so many quality deliveries go that England would have played. We defended or ducked while England swing at so many they shouldn’t have. Apart from the Stokes wicket by Starc we got soft wickets. The rest they just haven’t learned.

Even in the first test, Lyon got lucky hooking to stokes. Catch got dropped and Lyon learnt his lesson to play more patiently. England should learn like Lyon

Bazball, or Brainlessball? England implode in 15 overs of 'pure stupidity' to gift Aussies golden chance at 2-0 lead

As someone who closely watches the Bulldogs every week and has done for the better part of 30+ years I beg to differ.

We look more dangerous and show so much more potential. The kids play well to a certain point but struggle mentally when things go against them. We’ve missed a lot of our most expensive players for big chunks of the season and if a couple of close calls had gone out way (warriors obstruction try and Roosters forward pass call specifically) we’d be on the fringe of the eight. We’ve had 5 wins that could very easily be 7. Barrett has 5 wins in 34 games but never looked like things were going to change.

What I see is some young kids that are not far off doing a lot better. The previous 3 or 4 years I saw nothing on the horizon. Given how strong the lower grades are looking as well and I’d say we’re in a much better position than the same time last year.

A Gus about nothing: Gould promised everything but Bulldogs going backwards under his watch

None of that mattered. We all know that welltimed toilet breaks and pizza making from Roar readers were the real reason Australia won and nothing England did would have made a difference.

Did Stokes' declaration cost England the First Test? Embrace the chaos and admit you don't know

Not really, facing 20 overs vs 100+ over 2 innings leads to very different strategies, and as Australia has shown, being patient and traditional leads to rewards. That strategy that shifts between sides every hour or so is what makes test cricket the engaging sport it is. T20 doesn’t have that though. Also, what Bazball is more about is getting results and risking a loss, compared to the past when sides would be happy to play out a draw. That is also about bold declaration and aggressive field placements T20 sides don’t have time to risk.

Over to you, Uzzy! Broad burst topples Labuschagne and Smith to leave Aussie run chase perilously poised

Sadly that’s the session most of us are awake for. If we get a rain affected pitch but only a session or so to bat conditions would be massively in Broad and Anderson’s favour.

You’re just saying what every Blues fan I’ve spoken to all week has said.
The worst thing is, having watched Moses “tear apart” the Bulldogs…well, mostly TPJ, I’m now going to have to watch an annoyed Hynes probably do the same, but across more of the team I imagine.
Where was Moses’ performance in the Grand Final… just looked over his stats for that game, very ordinary.
But yeah, he is in a lose-lose situation and I suspect he will cop the Hynes treatment if the Blues lose.

Why Reynolds would have been a better option for Blues as Moses faces a no-win situation

Not to mention his glorious batting skills. Proper Tailender….Go well!

James Anderson is cricket's Benjamin Button

Did you watch the game? Couple of times there were Inter players writhing around grasping body parts replays showed never got touched. I’ve lived in Italy and referreed football games there. It’s not an untrue stereotype.. unless you’re an uneducated sports follower.

Does Australia care about the FIFA Women's World Cup?

Fair catch every time. He had clear control of the ball before anything hit the ground, it wasn’t like the ground was used to help him catch it. If an Indian fielder had made that then the fans wouldn’t be calling them a cheat you can be sure.

REACTION: 'Cheat, cheat, cheat!' Greats fume, fans enraged as Green catch controversy divides cricket world

How many of us have childhood memories of success that were also the last? I chose Aston Villa as my team when Bosnich was playing during my teenage years and they almost immediately won the league cup final, then absolutely nothing since then.
Though with the champions league final on as I write this Villa at least have 1 more European cup/Champions league win than Man City (for the next 10 min unless inter pull out something special)

European trophy the beginning of a West Ham dynasty... yeah, right!

In case you were wondering, high intensity football going on with almost no chances but over a dozen mortal injuries…wait , no, it’s just the Italians playing.
The a-league mens final was 10 times more entertaining than this.

I’ve got tickets! But don’t worry, there’s no Bulldogs clash. Is there no one else on the Roar up at this hour for the champions league final? I popped on at half time from watching on my phone to see what the craic was.

It’s more my animosity to Ricky…ever since he grubbered straight to Matt Geyer who ran 90m to knock the dogs out of the 1999 major semi I’ve enjoyed watching his mouth ruin things for other teams.

ANALYSIS: Warriors spoil Croker's party with another statement win - and the Raiders attack lacks support

Really? After Ricky’s silly Croker circus I dropped a bit of cash on the warriors. Seemed absolutely certain to backfire. Not big money nor a big payout but after his presser last week I had to do it.

This case maybe but it doesn’t make my point any less valid. This one is like the majority of hip drop tackles that seem relatively harmless but they still get sinbinned for the hip drop. , However, when it goes really wrong the raised elbow has the potential to be a lot more dangerous
