Let this be a lesson to all of you. NO ONE beats Wales 14 times in a row.

Wallabies frustration continues with loss to Wales

Wallaby discipline totally gone now. Couple of bad calls against them but the composure has let go

Glad someone else has noticed that…the referee has given him a couple of stern ‘Michael’s like a strict teacher. Glad to see he’s growing into the role…

Can we not have this same discussion AGAIN.

Haven’t they made punching Richie a freebie yet? They should.

Thanks for that eloquent contribution Twins.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with this one Andrew – the Wallabies lack that killer edge to do whatever it takes to win, to brutalise and intimidate your opponents.

Dare I say it’s related to the core player base in Aus?

I recall once arriving at a job in one of the wilder parts of the world, a boss of mine said to me ‘You’ve got that middle class naivety that everyone will do the right thing and play fairly. That doesn’t apply here’

Reminds me very much of how the Wallabies play sometimes.

Feel so much safer with Sio at number 1, scrum been really good so far

I think saying he ‘created’ the try is stretching it a bit ZG.

It was a set move off first phase. Yes, Cooper did his bit well, as did Giteau and AAC.

It wasn’t a created try by Cooper.

Are you going for as many distasteful comments in one thread as you can?

Cooper was the real letdown for mine Rob. Reluctance and weakness in contact really hurt at this level.

Toomua certainly doesn’t have the passing game but his threatening running and willingness to take contact make the difference.

Gits – Toomua for me.

Agree Decs, I think Gits-Toomua was really impressive. Cooper’s lack of physicality really hurts him at this level, you can’t be a test 10 without being able to effectively take contact.

Sio and Holmes showed what we already knew, they are stronger scrummagers than Slipper/Kepu. So nice not to have to rely on the Ben’s.

Admire your optimism David but not sure I share it just yet!

I’m not sure I get the idea of touting Skelton’s line out skills along with Arnold’s – he’s not exactly a celebrated technician in that area.

Word out of those who’ve been around training this week is that Hooper spent all his time at open side in the 1st pack – would be unbelievable if he gets the start.

Wallaby cuts are still in World Cup contention

Hahaha – I enjoyed that WT

Brumbies overcome Rebels in Super Rugby

May happen naturally at the Brumbies RK – think Mccabe would fit naturally outside a fit Toomua and CL.

Of course, that puts mccabe in competition with an improved Andrew Smith and up-and-coming Jo Tomane and Kuridrani at 13, so may be a case of being ‘not even the best 13 at the Brumbies’ for PM.

Wallabies team to play Argentina announced

Agreed james, think having CL in the mix would deepen the playing pool considerably.

Having a first choice 12 and genuine replacement at 10 would give us some genuine options to play with.

Having 9/10/12 options of Genia/Cooper/CL, or Genia/CL/(Mccabe/Taps), things would seem a whole lot better than they do now.

Deans gets the backs right, now his big four must deliver

james, presumably earning a place in the national side is done by performing well at the Super level.

Think what jack was referring to is that the Tahs hardly made a good account of themselves this year, yet a large number (majority?) of them were brought into the team anyway – At the expense of the high performers of the Aus conference.

hence “too many Tahs with unearned places”

Deans gets the backs right, now his big four must deliver

Absolutely right Jez.

The Tahs have been chasing the ‘dream team’ squad for a long time now – As you said, there is a very long list of star players they have brought in from other franchises.

NSW and Qld have first go at most of Australia’s young players – There’s no excuses for those two franchises not to be bringing in young players and churning out stars. I see it as a fundamental problem in talent spotting.

Alternatively, perhaps the coaching and organisation structure is just not conducive to bringing up young players and giving them confidence? I can’t imagine the intense pressure, negative play and poor coaching is great for an up and comer.

Should the Waratahs build a dream team?

KPM, doubt Tomane will be appearing at IC for the Brums any time soon.

With a fully fit squad they will have a surplus of inside backs next year, between Toomua/CL/Mccabe/Zack Holmes.

Think they will have a big challenge in finding a place for all their backline talent in a starting team.

Wallabies must not accept myth of the unbeatable All Blacks

Peter, it wasn’t a pass at all – the ball sprayed out the side of a ruck.

The ref impeded play as a player from either team tried to dive on it, but considering White got to the ball while Timani got to the ref, it’s incorrect to say the Tahs were in possession.

The refs gave the ball back to the Tahs given they took it into the ruck, but once it pops out the side I think it’s fair to say neither team has it.

Reds, Brumbies remain on track, for different reasons

Agreed RK.

I wouldn’t expect them to go far in the finals, but even getting there should be considered a massive win for the franchise.

Think we have to remember the difference in context between the Reds’ and Brums’ seasons. They were certainly shooting for different goals on day one, so for the Brums to outperform the reds in an absolute sense is impressive.

Spiro predicts: Brumbies in finals, and Reds out
