Interest declared: I worked for Glory in the last three seasons of the NSL. Nick (and his original co-owner) Paul Afkos do deserve a lot of credit. However, Glory really took off because of the crowd-created atmosphere. It was the passion of the fans though that drew in the media because it was so different to the AFL. Perhaps that’s a lesson in itself. The club did create the blueprint the A-League abandoned for community engagement, which has, ironically been taken up by the Wildcats.
