love it – rocky flintoff

WATCH: Freddy Flintoff's son dominates County 2nds game batting exactly like his dad

Very Impressive, I think its Andrew v Mike out of that selection

Matt, Mat or Matthew... The Best XI that shares the popular great name to play top-level cricket

Just looked up Davies record. Yes its a brief career but 9 matches, 3 hundreds, 3 50’s and averaging over 50 isn’t a bad start!

The Dean Jones example that Australian selectors must avoid in regenerating ageing Test squad

Agreed, Bancroft has a couple of good/above average seasons yet his FC average is still under 40. He’s 31 and at best he will do a serviceable job. By comparison when Voges got picked in the twghlight of his career its was on the back of a 1350 run shield season averaging 100+. He finished with an FC average of 46 over 200+ games.

United have done some terrible recruiting over the years, overpaying for mediocre or older players. Mainoo , Garnacho, and Hjolund are 18,19 & 20. Some green shoots. Maybe the start of a new era.

A 40 innings minimum is probably a good measure of average and longevity.

It’s interesting to look at Starc v Lee. I feel starc is under appreciated and Lee is over valued.
On every measure with bat and ball Starc has a superior record.

Yep she’s amazing to watch.

Four sight: Callous critics need to realise 'something special' factor can turn Green into Australia's Jacques Kallis

As far as I am aware the shield has always been a 10 round plus 1 final season.

Bancroft best season 22/23 – 11 matches, 20 innings 945 runs @ 59.
Green 20/21 – 8 matches, 14 innings 922 runs @ 76.
Bevan 04/05 – 9 matches, 18 innings 1464 @ 97.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

I know its an opinion site, and Green may well be the next Watson but to consider Bancroft in the company of the others you state is fanciful.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

please – his record isn’t even close to Lehmann, Hodge, Law or Love.
Bancroft isn’t the next Bradman, its even a step up for him to have a Test Record like Joe Burns.

Yes Bancroft has an imposing record, very similar to one of our all time great opening bats. Ed Cowan.

Thank you for some facts.
Bancroft isn’t the next Ponting.
He’s not even the next Hussey, Katich or Rogers.
If they were to pick one of the 3 openers it’s Renshaw for me. 27 so best years ahead. Has a test century..180 odd so much more upside than Bancroft.

Smith's shock opener switch all but locked in as 'perfect scenario' looms with Green back to middle order

Yet still has an FC average under 40.

Bats hit crazy distances: Joy of six diminishes as modern chunks of willow turn average batters into master blasters

I’m a big fan of Mick Molloy.

Bats hit crazy distances: Joy of six diminishes as modern chunks of willow turn average batters into master blasters

He definitely could’ve carried himself in a different manner . Novak will never be as fondly remembered as Roger and Rafa…but if I ever want my son to learn how to field or run between wickets its Warner every day of the week. He got the most out of himself, after meeting Candace he took hid fitness to another level. He’s adored in the biggest cricket market in the world and despite his tag of ‘the bull’ is very compassionate to those who have less the most in their upbringing.
Ability wise – I still rate his dismantling of India for 180 odd in perth as one of the most destructive innings I have ever seen

Missed opportunity: Graciousness could've taken Warner to another level but he went the other way

I like the fact he’s put it out there before its over – its much easier to write in retrospect. However I hope they have at least one stumble…preferably against Aus in a semi or final.

A nightmare to bowl to, a nightmare to face: Are India like the 2003 Aussies?
