Hoisted on my father's shoulders in 1982 to watch the Springboks versus the Jaguars from South America, I was transformed into a rugby nut. I pity the poor souls who have never been exposed to the sport.

Because he was interviewed and that’s his version.

He said “watter kant”… which means “which side”

Pollock played for and is from South Africa. Give yourself an uppercut.

Labuschagne best since Bradman after ton

The Australian women’s team is fantastic. I can’t wait until we in South Africa can come within a mile if those standards for women’s rugby. I know Rassie is making massive strides behind the scenes in this department.

And on the process, really displaying your lack of class and intelligence.

Intelligence is not one of your strong points.

Stop exaggerating. Where exactly did you pull that stat from?

And how do you motivate that after reading the judgement and the precedents they cited from other instances of ref abuse? I’m eager to hear your opinion on that.

Pieter de Villiers through Bryce Lawrence. Now go back to your playpen.

I’ve never heard her talking. I have no doubt that she conveys messages. They all do. When Nienaber- also a physio was doing that in 2019, no one made a squeak.

I wonder if the refs who make so many poor calls during a match concern themselves with the players and coaches whose careers they destroy so publicly. Probably not. Instead of showing contrition, Berry went on the counter offensive here and even tried to get Peyper to lie for him. Disgraceful.

That person is René Naylor and she is a qualified physio who has been with the team for a decade. If she annoys you while watching rugby, I’m sorry to say but you’ve probably got other influences in your life and history that’s prompting that strong emotion.

I saw that but interpreted that to mean that for the time the wages are lost, they get remunerated the same as the men….I guess I have to admit that I’m out of my ‘league’ with this topic and get back to the Union articles.

Women’s rugby league makes no money, but its players should be paid the same regardless

I’m not a league fan at all and I’m not an Australian so I ask from genuine ignorance: would the equal pay propose be for equal value? Do the women really bring the same value to their employers as the men do or will they be paid the same simply because there’s an understanding that besides the lower value they bring, it’s because of the optics of pay disparity that the salty is justified?

I think your recap is what’s typically called a straw man argument. In any event, the tide of popular opinion is turning in favor of QdK – here in SA and abroad. CSA Boss was interviewed on radio yesterday and was presented with my very points as I sent them to the presenter beforehand. He simply couldn’t answer them and it became an embarrassment for him… so if he can’t make the argument and he made the call, I can’t expect you to either.

Commentators deliver a heartfelt message on racism after Quinton de Kock's withdrawal from WC match

No not all different. At no stage was QdK ever contractually or morally expected to take a knee as for his employer’s instructions. The football team doesn’t do it and neither does our rugby team yet somehow our cricket administrators have made the instruction which they deem so necessary yet completely tone deaf. Im still yet to receive a convincing argument as to how cricket South Africa’s instruction is not a violation of s15 or s23 for that matter. Nelson Mandela didn’t go to jail for 27 years so that we have to make political gestures when we start are working day and our grandfathers certainly didn’t leave their families to fight facists so that we bent a knee after clocking. In any event, thank heavens for your right to express your opinion Neil.

Im assuming that yours is from a South African point of view where discrimination comes from a widely more nuanced perspective than the myopic BLM. I have heard a host of reasons why taking a knee is found to be galling from its apparent ignorance of abuses against other segments of society, the shameful neglect of Afghanistan’s women team to apartheid practices int the host country- which I can testify to. Politicisation of workspaces is specifically prohibited and forcing someone to make a political stand is 100% relevant as it is prohibited by our Bill of Rights. Put simply, it is unconstitutional and the concept of ‘false equivalence’ you speak of is accordingly ridiculous.

Yeah because there’s nothing like decrying racism than pointing out the racists by identifying their race and age and whatever other tripe you can dig up

South African skipper addresses Quinton de Kock's controversial withdrawal from T20 World Cup game

His employer cannot compel him to make political gestures in terms of South African law. You will no doubt argue that it’s a simple gesture against racism but it’s nevertheless one that has been created and used by an American political movement that has become deeply controversial. This is nevertheless besides the point as the instruction to make a political statement is not a contractual obligation that de Kock needs to abide by. Anyone else’s concerns about the optics of his stand need to perhaps look a little introspectively at themselves in judging his actions by the trope of the colour of his skin because without listening to his reasonssw, you are effectively saying that he is racist until he takes the knee. Imagine for once having to take the knee as a condition of your employment every time you started your working day.

They had no choice mate. NAtional legislation at the time prevented them leaving the country let alone returning. The borders were closed.

Erasmus misconduct hearing set for October

Are you for real? The instigators of Bloodgate didn’t even get such a penalty. Had the rugby officials you speak of actually been consistent and allowed Erasmus the post match platform that every other coach gets, this would have been avoided- let alone the abysmal reffing itself. Erasmus is Rugby royalty in this country and his contributions far far far outweigh this matter which at worse is misdemeanour.

What a nasty man is our Rassie….he’s really upset you Mike and we are so sorry that we ever liked him. Everything that he has done for rugby in our country is a thing of the past and our allegiance lies with those refs instead.

I absolutely love the way the Boks play. Their style of years gone by when they tried to copy the AB’s and Oz was a recipe for disaster. Winning is the most exciting emotion in rugby.

Is winning boring? Is the rolling maul dead? Tate McDermott? Plaintive pleas from a green-gold couch

Why not? Which of that pack lacks mobility. There’s absolutely no cart horses in that pack whatsoever.

'That makes him dangerous': Cooper's selection is not what the Boks ordered

The idea that you run the big forward around to tire them out is a fallacy. Firstly, the Boks are no bigger than their opponents. Secondly, their forwards are far better conditioned than in years gone by. That thinking is exactly what the Boks will want and one can see how teams using this approach came completely unstuck in the World Cup in particular.
