Bonza was forced to follow Cronulla since childhood and fortunately suffers from selective memory loss. Last Origin recollection is the Bryan Fletcher hand grenade celebration.

Great stuff, long overdue article on hairstyles. Naiqama is apparently only 158cm with a shaven head.
Papali’i unlucky to miss out but Paolo and Tino already there.
Got me thinking of some great coifs of the past. Kevin Hardwick’s mane, Brad Mackay’s perm and Carl Webb’s loony “Q” shaved into his melon.

It’s all a matter of style: The NRL's best (or worst) haircuts

Excellent. What’s really good about this team is all of them are “noble baldies” – meaning that they continue to do the best with what they have. As opposed to “bugger it I’m taking the easy way out baldies” who shave it all off.
This tactic is so people don’t know for sure if they’re balding or it’s a fashion thing.
I’m looking at you Wendell and Ben Kennedy.

He can sure stuff up a try, the polar opposite of a pro like Brett Morris.
Tigers should look at other options. They looked great without Brooks too.

Carrigan faces lengthy ban for 'horrendous' tackle on Hastings as Tigers put dent in Broncos' top-four hopes

He was great. Rudolph too and Fifita jumped into the time machine.

'Wild old night' sees Tom Burgess sent off, Latrell miss three field goals and Hynes the hero for Sharks

All the pre-match hype about Johnston and red hot Latrell I had to check the draw to make sure Cronulla were actually playing.
They sure were.

'Wild old night' sees Tom Burgess sent off, Latrell miss three field goals and Hynes the hero for Sharks

Agree. Sharks pushed Panthers and should be higher than Storm, who they flogged not long ago. And the mighty Engadine Dragons should rank higher than Knights.

NRL Power Rankings: Parra plunge, but Broncos and Bunnies bounce their way to the top

Wow – that’s right. What a dark story that is and no, best not to confront Dylan’s sister.

Hasler's hair-raising humility saves Sea Eagles by tiptoeing through cultural war minefield

Think that’s the more well-known version. In Long Kiss Samuel Jackson uses the “you and umption” version – watched it for the umpteenth time on Sunday so it came to mind.

I remember Mark Geyer once said that Robbo was a player you tried not to run at. Unless you enjoyed being cut in half.
Anyway, villain says to Bad Boss “I’m dying, what should I do?”
“Continue dying”
Love a decisive leader!

Highly quotable 😁

Would be interested to see the uneasy 7 stand in front of Ian Roberts and explain themselves. Robbo looks like he could still play Origin, in fact we probably should’ve picked him.
That aside, it’s a timely reminder for Manly’s marketing department – presumably now at Centrelink – to never, ever assume. To quote the underrated Long Kiss Goodnight, “When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of you and umption”.

Well said. Interesting though that when teams are having a great season, decisions like this seem to go their way. Fate, destiny, whatever. Good luck in the finals, I think you’ll go deep.

Tigers lodge official complaint after bunker shocker but NRL claims Cowboys challenge was legit

at the very least Ashley Klein should be made to clean the Tigers’ dressing room toilets for the rest of the season. With all players put on a diet of curries and stout.

The Fitzy Effect: Craig finds success at Sharks but won't be as easy for new coaches at other clubs

I reckon we just lack one big bopper with some footwork – and hello Oregon Kaufusi in 2023.

The Fitzy Effect: Craig finds success at Sharks but won't be as easy for new coaches at other clubs

Yes, Fitzy inherited some great young players and Cronulla had only missed the finals once in 7 years but he was instrumental in getting Hynes aboard.
Has also done wonders with their defence – Scott Drinkwater said Cronulla was a tough team to score against.
So yes, you can inherit some good talent but motivating them and setting standards is another task altogether.

The Fitzy Effect: Craig finds success at Sharks but won't be as easy for new coaches at other clubs

Truly! Am pacing around the house wearing 2016 Premiers singlet, driving my family mad.

The Fitzy Effect: Craig finds success at Sharks but won't be as easy for new coaches at other clubs

Over rated might’ve been harsh but I’m still smarting over the Panthers heavy Blues team. There is a tendency for them to go missing in big games, Origin and 2020 GF.
The Cowboys are in in up to their eyeballs I reckon. Players like Dearden and Nanai will come back to NRL full of confidence. Holmes is in arguably better form that 2016/17 which is saying something. Throw in Drinkwater, JT, Robson and the gang and it’s a dangerous side.
Plus they’re underdogs so no pressure on them.
Anyway, back to watching 90s Origin highlights on youtube…..

Freddy's Panthers obsession is what cost the Blues Origin

Hmm – not sure. I think Penrith are pretty overrated. Lucky to beat a Tratell – less Bunnies last year.
Cowboys can get them and I wouldn’t begrudge them a bit.

Freddy's Panthers obsession is what cost the Blues Origin

100%. Whereas for Corey Parker he became a Kangaroo when he swapped angry and bald for a Mad Men bouffant.

NRL NEWS: Walsh officially becomes a Bronco, Brooks fumes over Tigers leaks, Blues call up Townsend

Perfectly said. I once (unfairly) said that we won the 16 comp in spite of him, not because of him but he’s had a cracker of a season.
As you said doesn’t overplay his hand and has a field goal in him when needed.
Good on him.

NRL NEWS: Walsh officially becomes a Bronco, Brooks fumes over Tigers leaks, Blues call up Townsend

Possibly once the season has ended. Matthew Johns doesn’t think the Titans board are into punting someone mid season.
A few more floggings might change their minds though.

NRL Power Rankings: Cowboys, Souths, Sharks up, even worse news for Tigers and Titans

I’d be quite content for the Sharks to play the Bulldogs/Tigers/Titans on a rotating schedule but unfortunately the draw dictates that we have to play strong teams at some stage.
But all in a month?
Farking hell. A fired up Melbourne after being embarrassed and a fired up and fit Latrell…then those pesky Panthers and Cowboys. FFS.
If we manage to jag one win I’ll be happy.
Dry July? I don’t think so.

NRL Power Rankings: Cowboys, Souths, Sharks up, even worse news for Tigers and Titans

Very similar to Wighton in that regard. Nothing wrong with a big skillful 5/8 – oppositions won’t like it.
As for the centres, Suaalii would slot right in. What happened with Billy Smith?
And as a Sharks fan, why do I care?
