Bonza was forced to follow Cronulla since childhood and fortunately suffers from selective memory loss. Last Origin recollection is the Bryan Fletcher hand grenade celebration.

No matter what happens in Perth, just can’t see NSW winning in Qld. Munster and Holmes are in scintillating form.
To paraphrase Principal Skinner, “prove me wrong Blues, prove me wrong!”

I went to school with another doomed Nathan Brown. He was happily employed at a major bank as far as I know. Was….

Another Nathan Brown shown the door: Eels dump ex-Origin star and say he's free to leave

Not a great month for the Nathan Browns. Are the namesakes nervous? Is this a Terminator Sarah Connor phonebook kind of employment terminating?
Could be good timing for top 8 headed teams. Plenty of clubs wouldn’t mind his aggression and offloads. Would love him at the Sharks.

Kiraz is a great talent, the more aggro the better for mine.
Speaking of which, as a Dogs fan you must tire of every team being compared to the mid 80s and early 2000s “Dogs of War” sides. I remember Canterbury used to be pretty handy in throwing the pill around when Ted Glossop was in charge.
Surely the players available and coach should reflect the playing style. In which case, Potter’s (seemingly) hands off approach is working well.

At times I could’ve sworn it was 1980 all over again. Brentnall, Gearin and the gang. Entertainers are back!

Addo-Carr and Burton push Blues case as Bulldogs bash up Eels in major boilover

How good for anyone other than a Parra fan.
Fonzie could never admit he was “wro…wron..wro…” but Freddie might have to regarding a certain outside back.

And as much as Freddie reads The Roar comment sections for selection ideas, he won’t be dumping Cleary and his beloved if a tad overrated Panthers.
Yes, Sims and Staggs to go.
Wouldn’t mind having Papenhuyzen anywhere, prop if need be.

KURT GIDLEY: Blues don't need to panic but must change tactics, bench for Origin II

Fair point which is frustrating. Qld stick with DCE who’s had some shockers and he aims up last night. We stick with Cleary because there aren’t many others. He hasn’t had to do too much in Origin up until this year because of the NSW backs but minus Turbo, Latrell, Papi he had to step up and didn’t.
Playing behind a beaten pack? Run the effing ball, kick early, do something.
Ryan Papenhuyzen, your state needs you.

Origin boilover: Fittler fuming over slow ruck as Slater inspires Maroons to upset over shellshocked Blues

What will be really interesting is how NSW – biased media will go towards Cleary.
Fittler has mates in every media outlet but hopefully somebody brings up the bleeding obvious.
Cleary is a good NRL half but he aint an Origin half.
He’s done very little at this level and the Turbo/Latrell show last year took the focus off how little he contributes at Origin level.
Freddie can punt him or bring in Adam Reynolds.

Origin boilover: Fittler fuming over slow ruck as Slater inspires Maroons to upset over shellshocked Blues

Would Freddie dare to drop Cleary?
He should. Cleary ain’t Origin standard.
Adam Reynolds, JAC and Ryan Paps and suddenly we have a new look. Must be done without Turbo or Latrell, surely.

Origin boilover: Fittler fuming over slow ruck as Slater inspires Maroons to upset over shellshocked Blues

He was fired up and was willing to do whatever it took, because he’s been in that uncomfortable environment before…unlike a certain media darling giving the Qld back 3 catching practice. He’s a great NRL half and an ordinary Origin half.
BUT….Paps could be back!
FFS Freddie, pick him at prop if need be.

Origin boilover: Fittler fuming over slow ruck as Slater inspires Maroons to upset over shellshocked Blues

I’ll be honest- Cleary might be the man in NRL but that has never carried onto Origin. Zero attacking runs with the ball, no creative assists and every kick was gobbled up by a Qlder.
Munster showed Cleary and Luai how to play at the next level.
They were spoiled last year with Turbo and Latrell but were found out tonight.
Good on Qld, I love watching blokes like Cotter and as a Sharks fan I knew Val would aim up.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up drinking….

Good stuff Paul – I may have snuck Benny in there as hooker but Buderus was top notch.

The players who explain Origin: Blues edition - NSW’s finest contributors to league’s fiercest rivalry

Yes they love familiarity. Except for last year G1 and G2 when it was “just get it to Turbo or Latrell”

Panthers Deluxe: Inside NSW’s tactical plan to take down Queensland

Which begs the question – why not keep with the Penrith theme and start with the in form genuine centre Crighton? Wightons defensive reads worries me a la Game 3 2020. Yes he can whack, but as a 5/8.
At least he won’t be marking Val who is electric this year.

Panthers Deluxe: Inside NSW’s tactical plan to take down Queensland

First of all, good point about Slater and the gang. That worries me because they don’t like losing.
However…I do bristle when I hear how Qld “get” Origin and they all become supermen when they pull on that cursed jersey etc…
And we clearly didn’t get it for a miserable decade or so when I either watched badminton or drank alone in the dark listening to Johnny Cash.
Pretty sure NSW got Origin though, when we were winning back to back series throughout the 90s and early 2000s.
And we seemed to get it for most of the past four years.
This series looks both sides are an even money bet which is just how it should be.

Something magnificent brewing: Why NSW should be worried about Maroons coaching 'dream team'

Interesting article – didn’t realise Bert played in so many losing teams. I choose to remember 85/86 I suppose. Early and late 80s were all Wally, really.
Nor did I realise how many games Alan Thompson played. He was a decent 5/8 but out of his depth there surely.
I’d still argue Kenny to be an Immortal contender in terms of his Parramatta efforts.

Who had the bigger impact on Origin - Kenny or Lewis?

Disgraceful. My old man used to serve guests he wasn’t fond of Bells scotch in Glenfiddich bottles.

The school I work at actually got a new espresso machine, which was exciting. A co-worker asked if I’d fancy a cuppa to which I eagerly said “Yes please”. I then watched him walk past the espresso machine and make a cup of cheap and nasty instant Nescafe.
So you’re right, I would’ve choked anyway. Borderline workplace bullying, really.

Crighton as utility and Hynes 18 apparently. With Jackie Boy in the centres after that abysmal outing in 2020.
