Has the NRL ever taken an actual premiership match to Tasmania before? Maybe they should try that before considering an expansion team from there.
The next NRL expansion location? Tasmania
I think just because one police force failed at one situation, doesn’t mean they’re all bad. Police protect us from danger in most situations, but in Australian football they do go a long way to hinder active support.
Justice for victims of the Hillsborough disaster
It’s also surprising that neither the Sun or the Times in the UK did not lead with the revelations on their front cover’s, when all others in the UK did and even made news here in Australia, as well as Canada, USA and Mexico (at least what I heard, but there was sure to plenty other countries).
Justice for victims of the Hillsborough disaster
Good read mate. I’m all for finals! But I still like how Europe run their leagues, but we are not Europe!
The A-League giant has awoken
The best thing (and probably best argument against it) about the finals is that what happens in the home-and-away season, doesn’t really affect the play-offs. Form is out the window. Anything can happen in the finals. Yes, it will be tough for the Wanderers, after 120 minutes and horror defence. But coming from 3-0 down to win 5-4, will give any team momentum. There will an extra focus for the Wanderers in defence this week, but I’ll be tipping the Wanderers.
Why Adelaide will edge Wanderers in classic grand final
I don’t necessarily think playing in summer is about fear. Maybe in the 1990s when Australian made the switch, there was the element of getting bigger audiences because of clashes with the AFL and NRL. Australian football would survive in winter going against NRL and AFL.
It is time to move the A-League back to winter
Hiku has been in some great form this season for the Panthers. Should definitely be getting a look-in at fullback. But I would be picking him at left-centre for the test, as that was where he’s been playing this season and where he has shone.
Hiku’s hopes for Panthers Kiwi representation
Not that I know of. Maybe a very long distant relation, but nothing close.
The Eels must be given the Storm treatment
I’m all for extra time in finals, but not in the regular home & away part of the season. I feel teams sometimes deserve not to lose and get a point each. Maybe I’m more of a traditionalist, but I like the old format of extra time, 10 minutes each way. But if still equal, play golden try, which wasn’t the case.
What's the point of golden point?
The biggest derby in Australian sport? Excuse me; Western Sydney Wanderers v Sydney FC is bigger.
Australian football's biggest derby takes centre stage
Great read mate! Can relate with the wannabe Kopites and actual Kopite comparison.
The dreamy reality of LFC under Klopp
Accident or not, that guy has gone studs up his face. Smeltz should have been sent off and suspended. Poor move by the FFA
PRICHARD: Ridiculous that Smeltz has escaped suspension
What do you think of the chances of David Simmons and Nigel Plum to be the next Immortals. They’re dead-set champions
Legend status doesn't make you Immortal
Big Sam could get the job done at Sunderland. But who knows? He could win the derby against Newcastle, then could get sacked in 6 months. Allardyce’s tactics are not beautiful, but we saw at West Ham he improved their fortunes. Sunderland are a basket case at the moment and maybe relegation could do them good and start afresh for the 2016-17 season.
History repeating itself again at Sunderland?
I think Bennett was a bit slack on the Cowboys. Bennett has always been critical of golden point. This is not the first time he’s complained about golden point, but those are the rules and you have to deal with it. Had Ben Hunt caught the ball, I believe the Broncos would have won, because they had the momentum with them, after Thurston’s miss.
Bennett should have given more credit to the Cowboys. The Cowboys followed the rules (that is golden point) and won fair and square. Yet should golden point be the rule? No I don’t think so.
Golden point needs to change
The problem with Uruguay is they have great potential, but the people selecting the squads are awful. Why was not Luis Suarez, Edison Cavani and Diego Godin not picked? They would’ve carved up in their group.

I think the Ipswich Jets have a better chance than Cronulla winning the premiership.
But realistically, Cronulla do have a strong team. They’ve bought Maloney, Townsend and Jesse Sene-Lefao, won’t be surprised if they make the top 4, but we’ll do well to make the grand final.
Warriors constantly have great juniors, but struggle to keep them and struggle to play away from home. That’s the important stuff for the Warriors to work on. They’ve bought well; Roger Tuvisa-Sheck and Isaac Luke and Shaun Johnson needs to stay fit if they have a chance.
Two words for Gold Coast; no chance.
Who will be next to get that maiden premiership?
Wow. Surprised by your predictions, especially Sydney FC finishing 8th (I’m a WSW, I’d be happy if this happened). Even WSW being 4th is surprised. They’re gonna take a while to get together and gel as a team, with so many new players. I think we saw that they’re long off the finished product on Thursday night. Brisbane I think will surprise a few, but ultimately miss the top 6. I think we’ll see a disappointing season from the Nix, after such a strong 2014/15. Expectation might get the better of them. Yet Melbourne City have recruited the best out of all A-League clubs. Don’t be surprised to see an all Melbourne grand final come May.
I’d love Perth Glory to push the top position; glad to see them return to their glory days of late 90s/early 00s.
My tips;
1st Melbourne City
2nd Melbourne Victory
3rd Adelaide United
4th Perth Glory
5th Western Sydney Wanderers
6th Sydney FC
7th Brisbane Roar
8th Wellington Phoenix
9th Newcastle Jets
10th Central Coast Mariners
Crazy, wild and bizarre predictions for season 2015-16
Disappointed with the loss against Jordan, of course. But the reaction of many media outlets is poor. We played quite poor, but Jordan is a tough place to visit. We lost last time we went to Jordan in 2014 qualifying, and Jordan held the then Asian champs to a draw. Away trips are tough in Asia. Every team can’t be taken lightly in qualifying.
'A national disgrace!' The silly reaction to our defeat to Jordan
Valid points in the article. The spending/domination in motorsports is frustrating as fan, but I compare it to English football and the Premier League. You know the richest teams are going to win the Premier League, such as Manchester City and Chelsea. But there are upsets and drama throughout the season that makes the season exciting. Yet in the end it’s who you’d think would win. You’ll see upsets throughout the 2015 season in F1, but in the end it’ll be Mercedes winning.
The declining interest in Formula One
Overrated big time. Off to a retirement league now to build-up his superannuation.

Charlie, this is a bloody good read.
I’ve always admired Peter Sterling as an ex-athlete turned journalist. He does a quality, professional job every time and does his best to be impartial.
As a person who was studied sports journalism and now works in the print media, the way former athletes can just walk into TV, radio and newspaper gigs frustrates me. If you’re going do to get the job easy, at least put some bloody effort into it!
