I’m sure there be more excitement with the cricket. Not really but there are some season defining games and ladder positions are at stake.

Polish up your big screens, because a classic round of AFL footy is coming

I was at the game and yes Hawthorn controlled the game chipping it around keeping possession, but couldn’t find a direct method to goal. Going slow only allows the opposition players time to structure up and make going direct to goal difficult. St Kilda took more of their opportunities, except for Jack Higgins who turned to the open goal too quickly and spilled an easy mark. It took for a tired less structured St Kilda defence for Hawthorn to execute the game they wanted.

It wasn’t pretty but structurally from both teams they had what they wanted just execution was letting Hawthorn down.

You need to remember it’s not about who gets more possession but what you do with it. Carlton and the like smashed us in possession but couldn’t find a way through us and it looked that way for much of yesterday until a combination of Hawthorn going and St Kilda tiring left the door open for them to take the win

They can go again but on recent history and how teams have gone post losing a GF by big margins it’s simply a trend they need to snap. They have all the makings of going better but who else will stand up when it’s counted for and look to go one better

Can Sydney bounce back from grand final defeat, or is this all they've got?

That’s the point can anyone answer this question. We will let the Swans answer it in due course. We know they can but with the likes of Richmond, Melbourne and Brisbane amongst those looking to go one better only can they put this horror GF behind them.

Can Sydney bounce back from grand final defeat, or is this all they've got?

I was just stating that it won’t be all that easy for Sydney on evidence of years gone by. Especially considering how hard they worked to get there and fail when it mattered. They have what it takes to go again but it will be interesting as to who improves and if they can get there again.

I simply stated that losing a GF like this (Adelaide & GWS for example) can leave you scared and in Sydney’s experience find it all that more harder to overcome and put those mental scars to bed on the big stage.

It’s one thing to come close it’s another to win but like those around them ultimately winning will be all that much sweeter if they infact do manage to win one soon.
