A lifetime Carlton supporter, (please don't hold that against me), hoping that the light at the end of the long tunnel will shine brightly again.

A multi-million dollar enterprise won’t function efficiently without strong and decisive leadership. Is the re-appointment of Lyon the way to go? He walked out on the club over 10 years ago to take over as senior coach at Fremantle. However, there was a hurdle. Mark Harvey was still the senior coach of The Dockers at the time. Thank f@#ck he (Lyon), wasn’t given the job at Carlton.

'Disgraceful': Veteran coach slates Saints chiefs for treatment of Ratten - 'one of the best coaches I've ever worked with'

You’re right. Jezza was Captain/Coach in ’79. As a Blues supporter, I can’t believe I overlooked the great man. To make matters even worse, I was at the game. Thanks for jolting my memory.

Ruthless clash of opposites that sparked Ratten sacking, who is next man in: Burning questions after brutal move

Throw another lazy $mill at Malcolm Blight…again. If he’s not interested, word is that James Hird wants to coach again. While they’re at it, maybe take a punt on “Big Nick”. He is, after all, the last Captain/Coach of a premiership side.

He has hired Clayton Utz lawyers and barristers Liam Kelly KC and David Turner to act on his behalf. He continues to deny, categorically, allegations of wrongdoing.

Malthouse just wouldn’t play him. If there were other issues, I’m not aware of them. He and Eddie Betts were valued members of the side under Brett Ratten. They were a formidable combination. Malthouse’s tenure at the club was an absolute disaster.

North Melbourne and Brisbane must sack Clarkson and Fagan after Hawthorn racism revelations

I’m a Blues supporter and I think you’d find that Jeff Garlett had a problem with Mouldhouse, not the club. He wasn’t the only one either. Marc Murphy is one who springs to mind immediately. Unfortunately, he, (Garlett), got himself into a bit of strife after an altercation at a bar somewhere. The club ended up trading him to Melbourne.

Was Kennett president during this period? Wasn’t him who supposedly made a comment about Cyril Rioli’s wife’s attire?

I still believe that Jack Carroll can hold down 1 wing. Something maybe worth trying in the off season…Jack Martin on the other wing. Release the shackles and let him run. Try Brodie Kemp across half forward. If nothing else, Sam Walsh can
cover the other wing, aswell as any other midfield role.

Carlton should remember the pain but be optimistic for what the future holds

Surely the powers that be at Essendon couldn’t possibly even consider Hird, The fish rots from the head, so Ben Rutten can’t be the only person to be held accountable. How long has Dodoro been in charge of recruiting? He has to be skating on very thin ice.

Dons dump Truck: 'Uncompetitive' season sees Rutten sacked as Essendon coach

Geelong is regional…not metro Melbourne. Not yet anyway. Despite the collapse of Pyramid Building Society in the late 80’s, (former Cat David Clarke one of the central figures), and the closure of the Ford plant, the city of Geelong continues to thrive, so too does the footy club. Their, (G.F.C) wings spread far and wide across south western and central Victoria. They’re the only Victorian club not based here in Melbourne.

'A real watershed moment for our club': Roos rejoice as Clarko signs on, Hird to Bombers rumours grow stronger

Didn’t he also have a brief stint at Melbourne…as a player? As for his 90-odd games for North Melbourne, only 1 stands out…and for all the wrong reasons. 1987, Lords. He king hit Ian Aitken and broke his jaw. Back in the early 70’s, when Barassi took over at Nth, he had the added advantage of the 10 year rule. All of a sudden, the likes of Doug Wade, John Rantall, Barry Davis and Stan Alves jumped on board. No such luck this time around.

Yeah…terrible news. His first game back after 1000+ days… yet another setback 😔

Even us diehard AFL supporters have no f@#$ing idea anymore…let alone the players.

Musings of an AFL idiot after watching their first ever game

I don’t support either side but watched the last quarter…albeit after having consumed a few Friday night after work beers. As far as I could tell, through cloudy beer goggles, Warner kicked the ball into the crowd after the final siren…in celebration of a victory. He might not have even been aware of the free paid to Prestia. How can a penalty be awarded after the completion of a game…or quarter? If I’m wrong, I stand corrected.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: Swans and Tigers put on a classic despite the controversy - and why THAT non-50 was the right decision

I was referring the the midfield as a cohesive unit. They’ve been performing pretty well together…to say the least. It’s a good position to be in, with players the calibre of Dow unable to get a game. When he does get his chance, I hope that he does take his game to the next level, just as Kennedy has.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: The Blues are the AFL's clutchest team... but it can't last

Cottrell is a try hard. David Cuningham has poise and class. Unfortunately, as we, (Carlton supporters), have seen, he is injury prone. As for Dow? Why f@#ck around with what is currently a cohesive unit? I liken Jack Carroll to Kade Simpson. The latter having started on a wing, later to hold down a spot across the half back line…with distinction. Let’s not forget the 300 plus games that Kade Simpson played. That’s not to say that Jack Carroll will get anywhere near the heights that Kade Simpson reached. However, I can see him following a similar path.

AFL Friday Footy Fix: The Blues are the AFL's clutchest team... but it can't last

As a lifelong Blues supporter, it’s now encouraging to not only follow them, but to actually watch them live. The keyboard hacks…faceless journos…are still delving into Carlton’s weaknesses. They can’t see the new found belief and positive energy amongst the playing group. There’s still that negativity attached to Michael Voss’s tenure at the Brisbane Lions. He’s 10 rounds in as a senior coach…albeit the 2nd time around… with an 8-2 record. STFU!!!

Carlton are 7-2…not 6-3.

Congratulations Ash Barty on a wonderful Tennis career. She has nothing to prove and she has bowed out on her terms with the grace and dignity she displayed, both on and off the court.

'So happy and so ready': Ash Barty's shock retirement from tennis

As a fellow Carlton supporter, I don’t think Lochie O’brien is worth persisting with. I firmly believe that Jack Carroll is the ideal replacement.
