This was a great game of rugby. From the anthems to the final minute it is everything that is good about the sport. Nice to finish the season with a demonstration by both sides on how the game should be played. QC at his best. Forwards strong in tight and the honey badger running straigh and hard in the backline. Awesome stuff!

Cooper inspires Wallabies to narrow win over Wales

Is this to kick off in 2015?

New third tier will save club rugby, not kill it

SBW might not care about $$ but his manager sure does.

SBW: "I want to play against the best"

SBW no doubt enjoyed the physical clash on Saturday. But he is also smart enough to realise the ABs have played in front of 80000 crowds at each of their European tests. Rugby generates enormous crowds, media with the flow on being $$$$$.
The idea of playing Wests at Campbeltown in front of 6500 on a cold winters night against playing the Reds or Bulls in front of 50000 I’m sure will influence his decision. He likes the big stage, and union is the sport that can provide him that global platform to excel.

SBW: "I want to play against the best"

Club rugby in Sydney has been struggling for many a year. Penrith, Warringah and Gordon are short of players and cash.
Penrith/Parra, Manly/Rats and Gordon/ Norths merger is the only hope for those clubs if the status quo were to remain. Trying a national comp I think is a brave but necessary call.

ARU to resurrect third-tier rugby comp

Cathar appears to embrace his role as the NRL media manager.

RLWC: How one lopsided result led to the 'end of the world'

Average crowds of 12000 in its heartland on Northern England. To be honest Id suggest that’s a little disappointing. Having just returned from the UK I can sadly inform you that the Premier League sucks up all the media oxygen over there. The only other sport that gets a look in is the rugby spring tests that are going on around the UK. Let’s focus on building out a end of year NRL vs SL comp and leave the World Cups to other sports.

RLWC: How one lopsided result led to the 'end of the world'

Folau ,,,,,,,,,,how good is he!!!!

Wallabies out-graft Ireland in 32-15 win

Que the NZ Robbie Deans defence squad. Robbie Deans was the worst coach in Australian rugby history. He stifled the traditional Australian running rugby psyche. He player selection process was extremely poor. As my husband always say, I could have coached the Crusaders to multiple S14 titles with the playing roster he had. The remarkable achievement for the players are they won all those titles inspite of his incompetence. Harsh but very fair comments I believe. Best of luck to the Wallabies and Link this weekend. I think with some more mongrel in the forwards and some smarter Genia execution will see a good Aust victory.

Wallabies no longer clueless: Ireland

When does the RLWC start? I for one am looking forward to it.

Is RLWC one of the biggest hoaxes in world sport?

It’s a facts based piece.

Nightclub brawl a wake-up call: Slater

Not sure if you saw the US Eagles play the NZ Maoris on Sunday in front of 20000 in Philadelphia. The Usa team were all Americans who play in their national domestic comp. it highlights the gap between the rugby reality vs the league mirage.

2013 RLWC copping unfair criticism

Just watched highly entertaining USA vs Maori. What an atmosphere! Will this awake the sleeping giant?

Rugby in North America: the view from Toronto

Worst refereeing, touch judge and video ref performance potentially in rugby history. Ever English point scoring opportunity involved a suspect or marginal decision. Mowen should have been discussing every decision with that ref. Knowing the IRB the guy will be promoted!

England come from behind to beat Wallabies 20-13

What channel is the league World Cup on and what time are any of the games? I hate to rain on anyone’s enthusiasm but when the WC appears after the domestic cricket highlights on Sunday night sport it shows it has a long way to go in capturing the sporting publics imagination. I hope it builds momentum from here but the office water cooler chat is anything but about league.

Australia needs to make space for rugby league internationals

The reason no one is blogging about it is hardly anyone watched it. Interest at my workplace even among the league diehards is minimal. In fact I don’t know any of my friends or colleagues who did watch it live or on IQ.

RLWC 2013: England come up empty and nought in opener

Sport freak, why the need to be so unkind? This is leagues show piece and while the term “World Cup” if used very liberally it still provides the only forum for the code to try and get some international exposure. I’ll refer you to a previous post where I think league should focus on a end of year club series involving the top 4 NRL and top 4 SL clubs to try and build exposure rather than try and compete with the global big boys Football and Rugby.

RLWC 2013: England come up empty and nought in opener

Nice one crashy Harris

Dismissing the RLWC critics

Sorry to say it but this WC looks like doing more harm than good to League. League should focus on a UK v NRL annual 8 team club comp and maybe throw in PNG. Putting NRL players out in 13 other national jerseys when their is no real domestic competition in these countries doesn’t fool anyone. Build a real base before trying to emulate other sports with “world cups”.

Small nations dream big at RLWC

You heard it hear first. Fardy to have an absolute blinder and be find of the test.

Bledisloe: Wallabies vs All Blacks - Live Q&A recap

Great call on Fardy. Think he brings a lot in mobility.

McKenzie names 30-man Wallabies squad, with surprises

It still would be a massive kick in the guts for the NRL. I love league but can see how players can look at the travel and experiences Union has to offer and not be tempted. Particularly guys who’ve been 8+ years only doing the Melbourne, Brisbane & Nth Qld trek.

Waratahs want Benji Marshall

He would get snapped in half. He’d have to play 2nd row or number 8

Will Benji's departure hurt the Tigers?

The ARU can have Benji and the NRL can have JOC. Fair swap.
