Restoring culture: Easier said than done unfortunately. The Kangaroo spots are a great reward for their club and Origin performances. Their displays of talent and tenacity through such a tumultuous year have been highly impressive.

Wasn’t it contract related with Mack? He has certainly been a huge win for the Bears who surprisingly sit atop the NFC North above the more fancied Packers and Vikings. Mack has had a forced fumble and a sack in his first four games a feat not achieved since 2005.

Five takeaways from the NFL thus far

Jesse is off to Newcastle, so yeah I guess you could say the curse has hit. I don’t see recruitment or retention as a major issue. Dean Whare would be considered a loss. Locking up the Trbojevic brothers was a must and one of Manly’s better recent moves.

Single handedly won them matches in the NYC. Had a tendency to drift in and out in attack and was questionable defensively in NSW Cup. Scored a great try in first grade showcasing his speed and balance. Definitely has something special attacking wise.

Manly's Tom Wright quits Sea Eagles to join Brumbies

There has been no mention of investment. Prolonging the Barrett quandary is the main issue. Glad you have the faith that an effective coach will be appointed. If I were a Manly fan I would be hoping for Michael Maguire.

Still awaiting this news to hit the website. Strange that a day earlier they claim to still be working with Trent Barrett to ensure business continuity.

I think the Storm have everyone covered on that front. Manly like most have had their fair share of dubious signings. Who do they have in their sights for 2019? Granted signings like Fonua-Blake, Brian Kelly and Dylan Walker prior to his injury along with the powerhouse Martin Tapau, Sironen and Koroisau have all been great. Getting them to work in an effective system beneath a unified and modern approach including a progressive and respected coach might be a different story.

Meanwhile they miss the likes of Pearce and Moylan.

Hi Tom. My point amongst other issues was fix the coaching dilemma. This has been hovering like a dark cloud for 6 months. Yes Manly have a great record over the last 10 years and have a strong roster led by their recently selected 3 Kangaroos, but never in the past decade did they play to paltry and lifeless crowds of 4 to 5000 and throw away games that were wrapped up with 15 minutes to go.

Thanks for the thorough coverage. I hope it delivers a Manly side which consistently makes the Top 8 over the next decade led by a great core playing group. No club is ever free from turmoil but they have had more than their share over the last 12 months. If this plan sets them on their path for 2019 and beyond then great.

I never said it was easy. They have been talking and showing off plans for years and spruiking government grants. In a professional competition the ground is a relic.

Ok they have made some decent signings but others such as Jackson Hastings for whatever reason have not worked and then their is Jonathon Wright, Lewis Brown, Blake Leary, Lloyd Perret, Tim Moltzen, Isaac John, and James Hasson.

Appoint a coach who wants to work there for starters. Fix their home ground. Face the media. Gorman and Penn are missing in action.

Robinson is the key. Listening to him throughout the season and especially after the GF he is meticulous and somewhat scheming in his planning. His approach to the season has been likened to a Melbourne Cup preparation. A gradual build with some set backs along the way culminating in a peak timed to perfection. On GF day the Roosters had all the answers and just like the game against the Rabbits the previous week the opposition rarely looked like scoring. It is fraught with danger to look back to the previous weeks games but as the Roosters neared the summit in out classing the Rabbits, the Storm were slipping backwards after a less than convincing performance against a broken, battered and scattered Sharks side.

Five years on, the Roosters finally meet their expectations
