Great to see another professional women’s league kick off.

Are all the games free or just this one?

Carlton give Collingwood the Blues in an Ikon-ic lock out

Great game of football.
Can’t believe there was no goals in the end.
Put that down to some very good goalkeeping.

Some very good teams still vying for the semis and top four.
Home ground advantage could prove the difference for the Golden Toilet Seat.

Brisbane's attack: Couldn't find a way past Sydney, and set for upheaval

Who cares.
Best way to watch football is live or on SBS/ABC.

It would be fantastic if the commercial stations didn’t buy the FTA rights to the A-League games and it was offered to SBS or ABC.

If a commercial station buys it and it doesn’t rate, they’ll park it at 2am in the morning and then after a few weeks can it completely..

Slumbering City out-hustled and out-played by Newcastle

I wouldn’t say they are playing poorly or in a slump.

Don’t forget they have lost their 2 central defenders in the last few weeks and are blooding in a new central defensive pairing.

To remain undefeated is a huge effort.

Its a long season too – 27 weeks, so they need to pace themselves, not explode all over the place.

Sydney FC won't lose again this season

Alex Wilkinson – Ryde City/Manly / Mariners
Vukovic – Bonnyrig White Eagles / Mariners
Brillante – Bundaberg/ Gold Coast
O’Neill – Perth Glory

So Brillante was not a Jets junior either.

Mariners have a policy of stealing Sydney Juniors, fattening them up and selling them off. Its their greatest source of income.

Lots of very good Sydney juniors end up at the Mariners, Rogic, Amini, Bosnich, Matt Ryan, Duke, Djite, Burns etc etc.

They have an Academy and a Football High School as well so they get them young.

Victory unlucky, 3 games and 8,000 km of travel in one week, saved penalty, marginal offside call on their second goal.
Makes Thursday a must win game.

I think after the Big Blue, they have another Melbourne Derby. 2 losses in a row could see Melbourne City overtake them for second.

Some great battles going on for the remaining finals spots and another big game tomorrow for the Wanderers and Jets to grab sixth spot again.

Perth bounced back brilliantly and finished the stronger. Castro is all class, Taggart back to scoring in the A-League and Keogh the best centre forward in the league, even if he is not scoring, he is creating room and chances for the others.

Perth Glory vs Melbourne Victory highlights: Glory fight back to win 2-1

Too many long balls in the Derby.

Holosko, Bobo and Ibini aren’t fast enough to outrun most defenders, Brosque has probably done his hamstring again and went off injured. Simon predictably pushed and shoved and got his weekly yellow card.

Arnold neeeds to think of something smarter to break down mobile, well organised defences.

Lets see how Jordy Buijs goes for the Boys in Blue.

A defender and free kick specialist who has scored plenty of goooooaaaalllllllllzzz.

The key to breaking down Sydney FC's remarkable defence

I think a couple of hand balls have helped us stay undefeated.

I think we will still win the plate, especially the way Victory got thrashed last night.

Any game could be our first loss of the season, just if you could tell me which one. We could make some money.

Please explain why the AFC would kick out one of its most watched and biggest drawing countries.

The Australia v Japan WC Qualifiers regularly top the ratings across Asia, where hundreds of millions love to watch.

A-League's proposed quota changes further ashen Phoenix's future

Foxtel are simply helping the FFA to decide where the new A-League franchise would get the most fans and viewers. They are business partners and are allowed to talk to each other.

If one location had twice as many football followers and Pay TV subscribers as another, why wouldn’t the FFA and Foxtel be interested?

At the end of the day, sport is a business too.

A-League's proposed quota changes further ashen Phoenix's future

Football is also now Australia’s biggest bIog participation sport.
This is another Australian football record!

Just wanted to be the 510th comment.

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

Nice lead in there Mister Fake Football to change the subject to get your attack dogs biting about the TV ratings.

Good work

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

I thought you said you were leaving Perry?

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

With the amount of bids on the table for new A-League licenses its a very healthy situation that the FFA is in, if they need to replace the Nix at any stage.

The decision to include the Nix was taken by the FFA Board not the CEO, so you are barking up the wrong tree there regarding blame for the decision to award them a four year extension.

The extension is subject to certain conditions and looks to me that the Nix are not meeting all their objectives of what they proposed and in some ways are dragging down the overall status of the league.

Surely one of the new bidders can do better than 4K members and 6K home attendances and 30K Foxtel viewers.

Other A-League clubs performing poorly should also be put on notice.

As opposed to buying the hosting of the FIFA World Cup where they qualify automatically.

Will a 48 team WC lead to more or less corruption?

Fake Mr Football does fake best!

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

Did any news reporter mention the flares at the tennis?

Back page stuff if it happens at an A-League game.

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

I think its fantastic how many comments we get on the football tab, good and bad.

Shows how popular the game is nowadays and what a mark it is making on our modern Australian society. Fantastic!

Never would have happened with the old NSL.

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

Wookie,
you and all of us are free to call the game whatever you like, as are the MeIbourne RuIes marketing department.

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

If we are talking about roots. AFL was originally called MeIbourne RuIes of Rugby.
WIlls was a Rugby man and excelled at Rugby and cricket and the match posts were originally “H” shaped like in rugby/league.

It then changed its name to MeIbourne RuIes, Victor1an RuIes and then Australian RuIes.
The League only changed its name to the Australian Football League in 1989.

Football is an international game governed by FIFA, so it rightly is called football and has been since the middle ages. It was first banned way back in April 1314 by King Edward II, because so many of his soldiers were injured playing it.

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

Isn’t it fantastic the amount of jealousy that comes out every time we have a derby and a big crowd or some other positive football story. I love it, its great.

There are a few people who have a death wish for the A-League and Australian football. the A-league just keeps bouncing back better than ever. Its here to stay for a very long time.

The critics then have a race to the bottom to see who can make the worst comment. Its very amusing actually.

I was at the derby and a few people dressed in pink cricket gear turned up.
I heard one of them say ” . . . the cricket was crap, it was all over by the tenth over . . . “

Why are so many Australians threatened by the A-League?

I’m loving every word of vitriol and jealousy in some of the comments here. Its fantastic.

Some people with a death wish on the A-League and trying to put it down.

The A-League and Australian football are here for a very long time. Rather than fight it, try and enjoy it.

The Sydney derby is still the hottest ticket in town

You always say that Mid.

Don’t fight it mate, enjoy it for what it is, not what you want it to be.

The Sydney derby is still the hottest ticket in town

Please explain how the ratings will help you decide what to watch on TV, when they come out after the game is played?

If you love something just do it.

If you are a fake, stop trying so hard.

The Sydney derby is still the hottest ticket in town

I tipped Adelaide and Victory, 2 from 2 so far.

Strangely enough I’m looking forward to tonight’s Derby more than any of the others.
Its not like its a top of the table clash or anything like that with Sydney leading the comp and Wanderers struggling a bit.. There’s just something about the derby that gets me going each time and you can’t dismiss either side.

I’m sitting in the members stand tonight and will love every minute of it.
