“Bart gets to ride up front today because he’s a good guy at sports” - fan of anything and everything there is to do with sports. Main loves are the NBA, NFL, NRL and of course Rugby. From New Zealand so have a tall poppy perspective on everything and a bit of an underdog complex as well. Trying to provide a mix of humour and insight in everything I do.

My way-too-soon NRL awards

Fair enough Phil. I’ll note that for my 2/3rds of the season awards. Appreciate the feedback!

My way-too-soon NRL awards

I thought I would do a 2/3rds and then end of season Awards. Will be interesting to see who jumps in and who goes out. Lots of season left!

My way-too-soon NRL awards

Could be true. Will be very true by season end of manly continue to rise!

My way-too-soon NRL awards

Grant has been playing well, hard to split the game time and get a good mention. Maybe if he was playing the full 80. 5/8 is one of two positions in the halves so Luai can be both the best 5/8 and the best half (as he’s in the halves).

Shots fired! Forwards is a different story, but I think the non-stop action of League would surprise him to begin with. He is obviously a super athlete so would catch up but a hooker in league, making all those tackles and not having breaks for lineout/scrums etc would be a hard transition.

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Fair enough. It’s definitely not as crisp as
Smiths (probably the crispest passer of all time) but it’s still up there!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Winger to winger usually the easiest transition but could see a super fit number 8/flanker like Ardie Savea/ Tom Curry translating well to the back row/lock.

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Agreed. Not the intended purpose of the article!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

You’re probably right! I should have said it’s like switching from Passiona to Pasito.

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Bring back the Biff! 🥊 😂 😂

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Definitely not intended Rellum. I was simply sitting in a coffee shop as I wrote and that comparison struck me because it is so hard to tell the difference. Personally I like league more than union, even though I’m a kiwi! Don’t let anyone else know that though. I’ll be shunned!

Comments section is going off at the moment haha! Lots of 🥊

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Completely agree Paulo. I could have easily written . Going from league to union is like going from coffee to decaf!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Definitely not intended as a put down. Simply to state the codes are very similar but the things that are different are huge. For the coffee, no caffeine is a pretty big difference to having caffeine but If I gave you decaf you wouldn’t be able to Tell the difference! I love league and I love union.

I agree on Perenara struggling, it’s not easy to dedicate your whole life to one sport and then jump ship to another.

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Cheers Dirk. Bloody excited if he does move across!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Agreed, sad to see him go but love to see him take on the challenge!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Definitely don’t think Fakatava is better but that the ABs will want to blood a youngster rather than go with both Smith and Perenara and unfortunately for TJ, Smith is tops over him in the selectors minds.

For the tackles, yes you would be correct in lots of tackles being 2nd or 3rd player in, however the physical exertion of that, while not 100% would still be high, it’s a tall ask to go from even 10 tackles a game solo (some in union would be 2nd or 3rd man in as well) to 40-50 tackles in a game.

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Agreed Targa, he can kick well. Would be solid from dummy half for sure!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

He definitely has the talent Tony, the amount of tackles required from a modern hooker will be his hardest challenge!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Cheers KP. I’d love to see him take on the challenge. He has nothing left to prove in union!

TJ Perenara: Why he will make it in the NRL - and why he won't

Definitely! I remember the Bombers of old with Hird, Lloyd and Fletcher! I’m also a western bulldogs fan so have had some rough times with that as well!

I’m not crying, you’re crying: The misery of being a New Zealand Warriors fan

Agreed. Plenty of examples of absolute battler white dudes throughout the years. The race debate is simply a lazy argument based off of ridiculous generalisations.

So much promise, rarely any delivery!
