The problem is an AFL/umpire one. One of the umpires called touch the other said he didn’t know if it was touched & called a mark. Communication doesn’t take long. There are now 4 umpires out there to fix this very problem. You don’t have to be very smart to see that for this to work you need communication. Obviously the AFL don’t think so.

Love to whinge about the latest umpiring shocker? That's exactly what the AFL wants from you

I can see 30+ years is a fair while. And I acknowledge the Eagles have been damn good mainly. My point was more the Eagles got it good at the start that set them up well, I’m all by the WAFootball Commission. So it’s now time to be like your neighbour & work your own way up without a handout.

Six Points: Commonsense solution to score review influx, and why this star Tiger should get two weeks

I disagree with priority picks. A ver successful financial club that made recruiting mistakes that are now biting them. Add to that not many clubs have got the assistance that the WCE have…..still getting assistance in 1995 after 2 premierships. Set their foundation for many years. Work at it WCE.

So this weekend how many rounds have Brisbane played in & how many has Freo played in? My primary school maths tells me Brisbane 2 $ Freo 1.

The AFL didn't need to rob the NRL's house with Opening Round - it's more than big enough already

Didn’t read the article. It’s a Federal Govt decision….grow some Albo.

'Painful and sorrowful day': NRL joins Australia Day backlash as Hockeyroos, AFL teams call for date change

Good on Smith….he turned his average form around. I’m still not sold on him opening, I still think we need a specialist opener & Smith at 4, we’re so much more solid then. The loss is great for cricket, but it highlights our brittle batting at the moment.

Shamar's a superstar: Windies rookie destroys Australia with all-time great spell to break 27-year drought in cliffhanger

But when you say Renshaw is the best to cover all batting positions, doesn’t that mean there are specialist positions. It actually argues against the best 6 comment. BTW I don’t for a second believe the selectors believe in the best 6 batsmen line. This is just the message they come up with. And it’s never been used before to my knowledge.

Aussies face huge call over batting experiment with Smith and Green failing again as Windies turn Test on its head

So there are specialist batting positions.

Aussies face huge call over batting experiment with Smith and Green failing again as Windies turn Test on its head

I don’t see that as the official line on Australia Day. I see it, as a day to celebrate living in this great country today. I take it a bit further, of being an Aussie. That’s a pretty common view I think. I have no objection to changing the date. Just celebrate this country. It’s not perfect but it’s damn good.

Yeah, damn quick over 2-3 steps. Got flattened by a Croatian one game, not pretty. Out like a light.

'Choose a better date': Cummins wants Australia Day moved as CA chief sledged for 'bizarre' trainwreck interview

Pat Cummins has every right to state his opinion. Actors are always giving their opinions. I read them, think about them, use them with all the other views including average joe blows, and form my own opinion. They don’t get special treatment. But that’s fine.

'Choose a better date': Cummins wants Australia Day moved as CA chief sledged for 'bizarre' trainwreck interview

Indigenous Australians are built for Aussie Rules, to me it’s like the game is made for them. And thankfully there are many who discipline themselves to teach the top, the percentage of Indigineous Australians playing in the AFL is far greater than the numbers in Australia. So maybe, cricket is not as suited to Indigineous Australians, physically or even just the game doesn’t interest as many.

'Choose a better date': Cummins wants Australia Day moved as CA chief sledged for 'bizarre' trainwreck interview

CA should have issued a statement. “Australia Day is set as the 26th January by the Federal Govt. And until they have the leadership to change the date to a more suitable date, we will continue to recognise this day as the Federal Government does because we should/must have an Australia Day.”

Cricket can’t solve Australia Day conundrum - it’s not up to sports to make tough decisions for governments

But cricket administrators are, by not recognising AustralianDay, saying Australia Day should not be recognised. The Federal Govt has said the 26th is Australia Day & it’s not going to change.
Personally, I just want a day Aussies can celebrate being an Aussie. And that’s the 26th now. Change the date but stop messing with Australia Day. The lack of leadership is staggering.

agree…..let Green wait just like the other fast bowlers on the fringe have had to do. Very inconsistent selection policy between bowlers & batsmen.

Travis should Head up the order until Green proves he’s four-midable enough to earn important spot

According to the stats I’ve seen, Bancroft has scored about 600 more first class runs in 2022 & 2023 than Renshaw. But that in itself is misleading because Bancroft had more first class innings in 2022. However, Bancroft’s average for those 2 years is approx. 10 more than Renshaw.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

I agree with longer term view but the selectors don’t is what I’m trying to say. I get confused with their thinking from time to time. I think the selectorsare a bit lucky in that we’re streets ahead of any other country apart from India in one daters, & they just thought they had to turn up to win the World Cup. Oh, & some pretty damn good captaincy.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

Good to see Green get selected. After serving drinks for a fair while, it’s easy to get overlooked for others who have had the opportunity to bat & get their name up front. It’s possible that Green getting selected was the reason Bancroft missed out as Renshaw does have more middle order experience (not much though). I don’t buy this pick your best 6…….that’s the message they conjured up to support Smith opening & getting Green in.
What this gives us that the first 4 batsmen score at lest than 50 runs per hundred over the last year & a bit, mostly mid 40’s. Maybe the Windiest & to a lesser extent NZ will help us.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

Get those hammies warmed up…..you could get a call any time soon.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

Every batter in Australia will be in line…..just pick the best 6 no matter where they bat is the latest in selection.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

Selectors has said age doesn’t come into selections.

'Best six batters in the country': Smith will open and Green returns as Bailey denies Bancroft rift over Sandpaper saga

The problem is that we are playing the windiest………he will probably make a few against a mediocre attack & the selectors will pat themselves on the back.

Smith's shock opener switch all but locked in as 'perfect scenario' looms with Green back to middle order

True…..the problem is many believe Smith is not the best 1 or 2.

Smith's shock opener switch all but locked in as 'perfect scenario' looms with Green back to middle order

So you reckon Harris will be in the squad because he’s not playing BBL. now that’s a sound selection process. And does that mean the BBL takes precedence over a test squad place. Has a bit of SA to it.

Smith's shock opener switch all but locked in as 'perfect scenario' looms with Green back to middle order

Moody & Wade are good comparisons when you look at smithies record over the last few years.
